GNU / Linux October 2012 Desktops - Posting Guidelines

* Embedded images should be smaller than or equal to 1440x900 (preferably 1024x768)

The file size for image previews should be no larger than 500 KB

Images linked externally should be no larger than 3 MB

* If you plan to img-embed your desktop, please try to keep it under 100k (It's recommended that you link it, externally).

* Stay within the board rules, no matter how yummy you may believe it to be.

* If you are going to quote, there isn't a need to quote an img-embeded picture - Just don't do it. Please just reference the post by page number/page link/etc.

* Off Topic Posts will be edited or removed.

* The desktops thread is not to be used as a means to post images of a pornographic or otherwise provocative nature. We do not support a babes forum and neither will we in an unofficial capacity. Please help to keep the thread relevant and safe to browse for everyone.

* The moderators of this forum reserve the right to edit or remove your posts as necessary so they may comply with our Community Rules.

* In the interests of keeping the thread on topic it is strongly urged that you format your posts in the following order:

Themes: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

this one is the 1440*900 for my laptop but if you search world timezones map on google images there are loads of diff sizes

Can you share the details of your setup? Looks really great :)

It's Ubuntu 11.04, with Gnome 2x and the gnome-globalmenu-applet and Nautilus Elementary (not the regular nautilus that comes by default). You can install Nautilus Elementary by adding the Elementary OS ppa, it's easy to do - just google it.

The theme is : here, although I've further customized it to my liking with actual Mac resources (images). You'll also need Emerald for the window borders.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with the Cinnamon shell. Completely uninstalled Unity because it was buggy as hell for me, had to reset it. I really tried to like Unity, too.

Anyways, here it is:

I wanted to get a better distro and expected this to be a temporary thing since I had to sell my new computer and I'm using an old one... Then my USB starts to fail on me, go figure. :/

The 25H2 and 24H2 update is provided via KB5094126 (manual download link below), build 26100.8655 on 24H2, and build 26200.8655 on 25H2, after applying the updates. Windows 11 23H2 is available under KB5082052 (build 22631.6936). The full changelog is given below: [Secure Boot] New! The status of Secure Boot certificate updates on your device may be displayed in the Windows Security app (Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security). These enhancements are disabled by default on commercial devices. With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices receive the new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout. This update addresses an issue where the device might enter BitLocker Recovery after the Secure Boot updates. [Networking] This update improves reliability when Windows uses SMB compression over QUIC. After you install this update, SMB compression requests over QUIC complete more consistently, reducing the likelihood of timeouts and supporting smoother, more dependable performance. [Remote Desktop] This update improves protection against phishing attacks that use Remote Desktop (.rdp) files. When you open an .rdp file, Remote Desktop shows all requested connection settings before it connects, with each setting turned off by default. A one-time security warning also appears the first time you open an .rdp file on a device. [Reset this PC (known issue)] Fixed: This update addresses an issue that might cause device reset to fail when using the “Keep my files” or “Remove everything” options.
