.KICK
Open cmd and ping to the same server , or tracert and it'll show you where it goes wrong , I didnt think you would need to forward ports for playing games, just if you wanna host a server you do, how fast is the DSL :/
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted October 27, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 27, 2003 when you play is your ping that slow? Or I guess what I should say is do you lag? It may just be that your router drops the ping request from the server so it thinks your ping is 999. It wouldn't really be a port that you need to open although since MOHAA uses gamespy there's a ****load of ports that gamespy wants open. Just load up gamespy and goto help and browse for firewall to get the ports it wants open. For MOHAA I think it's in the readme but if not just goto ea.com choose support, and medal of honor then type firewall and it'll give you the ports mohAA needs open. But the game should connect just fine if you keep them closed. Ping will be a different setting not a port, it'll be called something like icmp ping request or something. mAcOdIn Veteran Posted October 27, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 27, 2003 OK try forwarding these ports. I hope your router supports ranges instead of just single ports lol. TCP: 667 (IRC) 3783 (Voice Chat Port) 28900 (Master Server List Request) 29900 (GP Connection Manager) 29901 (GP Search Manager) 6500 (Query Port) UDP: 13139 (Custom UDP Pings) 6515 (Dplay UDP) 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat) 12203-12218 12300 23000-23009 The ports that have descriptions to the right of them are for gamespy, and the ones without descriptions are for MOH. You don't need to forward voice chat or irc if you don't use them. If it's still 999 after forwarding all of them then it's your isp.

helmetshine
I play mohaa in the uk and one of the members of our clan had the same problem you have.....massive pings even tho he had a 512 b/band account. The only way he solved it was by changing his supplier(went from AOL to NTL) so maybe it's a problem with your ISP.If it is don't know if there's anything you can do about it as you may be locked into a contract.Be worth calling their helpline to see if they can help tho. Shibby
i play mohaa alot. when playing make sure u got not other stuff that access the net open eg msn, ie, aim, irc stuff like that. this can help your ping alot. And you will get better pings if the game server is near, i am in the south of the UK and have Broadband 600k and get max pings of 100 on multiplay.co.uk servers, normaly i get something like 20-
Kussie
i'm on 512 ADSL and it's great for gaming. I get an average ping of about 45 to most aussie servers (since i live in australia) and can play on 200~300 on most international servers. -=SD=-
Call your dsl supplier and complain to them about the high pings, they are the only ones who could help with that.

Wildies
OKay i Think I doscoeverd the problem...its from gamespy arcade servers list When i play the game and the server is still quaueing servers and updateing list thats Killll my bandwidth.... Therefore it was happening in Gamespy arcade or MOHAA itself cuz version 1.11 got its built in gamespy arcade browser.....there in both places the servers list updating was eating my bandwidth.... and the solution is sooooo easy with opening any ports in my router....just cancel the servers update (about 2000 servers thats why it take sometime)when i find the server i wanna join...then i launch the game.. and it working awesome...my ping now doesnt pass 150 :D thanx everyone for ur help (Y)
