Moving mailboxes from IMAP godaddy to Office365

Recommended Posts

Hey, so I am trying to move our mailboxes from godaddy's IMAP servers to our hosted exchange on office365. Is there a way for an admin to do all of this work without bothering the users? I have found a few articles but they seem to require the users' password information.

Is it standard practice for me to reset the passwords and move forward? Is there an easier way than what's described in this article.

I am actually not even sure that article is what I need to be reading.

Alternative solution is to just tell my users to copy all their mail to the new inbox once they setup exchange in outlook. (yes they all have outlook)

^^ is this acceptable practice? I won't be asking them to do it often... There is only like 10 users too.

With such a small amount of users, the easiest and cheapest thing to do is to go to each computer, export their mailbox to a PST file, setup the new Outlook profile and import the PST file.

The way I would do it (knowing full well this may not be feasible in your case) is I would synchronise their IMAP email into Outlook/WLMail and then "Drag and Drop" the emails into the new account (also synced in Outlook/WLMail).

That way the server will accept the emails being dragged across and retain all of the extra information.

Failing that, I don't know that there is a good way. Maybe MS have a mail import tool?
