Nanwu
Hello, I've got the following situation here. In short, I have Asus RT-N66U Router and I decided to make a firmware restoration via the restoration utility. I put router into recovery mode, the power led started blinking slowly, I ran Firmware Restoration utility to install 3.0.0.4.246 firmware. The utility found the router and the process started. It took some time, and when it reached 100%. the utility wrote some message, something about "couldn't establish connection" or something like this. Don't remember clearly. Now, when I switch on my router, only 3 leds (lan 1 , lan 2 and wan) are illuminated all the time no matter which cables are connected. Power led is never illuminated. Other problem is that my PC doesn't see the router, I mean my network cards says: "Network Cable Unplugged" . Does it mean that the router is completely bricked and there is no any chance to "reanimate" it? Because it's not seen by a network card of PC. P.S. I tried reset measurements, nothing helped. Thanks in advance.
farmeunit
What reset measurements did you try? This is for DD-WRT, but can apply to your case also. http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-N66U See part about clearing NVRAM and the 30/30/30 reset. neo1911
If all fails, I would recommend you to talk to Customer Care. Be polite but firm stating that such and such thing happened only after upgrading to latest firmware. Shift the blame on them and try to get a replacement or repair. I assume your Router is under warranty. Your Router's ROM may have been corrupt/faulty to begin with. Or may be CC can suggest alternative methods of firmware recovery or update. I myself use RT-N56U and its the best stable router I have encountered in my whole life.
Nanwu
Thank's a lot for advice. I only tried holding reset button when trying to reset it. I'll try hard reset (30/30/30 reset) later. Hope it will help. Yeah, the router is still under warranty, I bought it only 2 months ago.
