that would be even better if somebody found out how to use msstyles in 2k :D

cause all the shareware, freeware apps that skin are either slow or they crash alot and are buggy

You can use Object Bar, not only will it skin the taskbar and start button it will also make the start menu look like WinXP. It also has a feature to match the WindowBlinds skin you are using. It has a free demo.

Download Here:

But be warned it is a beta and has a few bugs.

Download ResHack and search in almost every (ex: checking in CDPLAYER.exe is useless) Windows DLLs and EXEs.

PS: If Windows 2000 can read PNG in it's GUI there shouldn't be any limits. Just take a look at MSN Messenger 4.x all the interface is made from PNG which enable thing like fake anti-aliasing (better alpha-blending) and thing like that.

and those "handles" that would kick ass. :p

Rebars and most other window elements (buttons, scrollbars, windows themselves) are drawn on Win2k. Drawn as in lines, as oppsed to bitmaps. There is no resource to edit. The only way to change them is intercept the "draw this" messages and paint bitmaps instead, which is what WindowBlinds and other skinning apps do. There are alternatives to WB on 2k and other OS's (eFX, Chroma, CustomEyes, Illumination, etc), but they simply don't have the features, flexibility, speed or continual development that WB does.
