aliz Posted January 17, 2002 Share Posted January 17, 2002 I've installed all the updates and all patches, i've made all the posible tweaks to make windows XP faster (Via 684x, PIII 800,256 MB Ram 133,GF3 Ti, ATA 66 Hdd'z). All the drivers are up -to-date and it still boots in aprox. 40 sec. Too much. I think there are some old drivers that windows it is loading. MxxCon Posted January 18, 2002 Share Posted January 18, 2002 90% chance it's your network card.:) try removing it and see if makes any difference. if it's your nic, i don't think there's anything you can do about it...maybe try differnt slots, disable pnp, differnt card? arsekicker Posted January 19, 2002 Share Posted January 19, 2002 It's probably because your network card is going out and trying to acquire a new IP every time you bootup. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSet ControlSession ManagerMemory anagementPrefetchParameters you can find "EnablePrefetcher", it's default value is set to 3, you can change it to 1,4 or 5, and I think the 5 is better, then reboot your computer.
