http://www.iriveramerica.com/estore.asp

they only ship to US and Canada, but as an option, you can have it shipped to my address and I can ship it to you. you know i wouldn't screw you.

like i said.. its an optio:):)

Good man, I reckon I'll take you up on that, everything in it would work apart from the power adapter so I'll just buy a converter. Sweet! It'll save me a bit of cash as wel:happy:y: How much will it actually cost you in $CAD total?

I get a company discount over at JandR.com if you need the help in getting one Dazzla. I'll have to wait until they actually release the new model to see if the discount will apply. I got my Zen for about $60 cheaper by using the discount.

Eventually all old hardware's gonna stop getting updates, dude. The old iPods don't get the new 2.1 software, they're stuck with the 1.3. It's capilotism, of course the new Zens get new softs. They want people to but the new Zens.

Old hardware? The player came out last december. They have the update...this has been confirmed. For whatever reason, they just don't put it up on their website. You're probably right about them wanting people to upgrade though.

See, the iRiver suffers the same setbacks that my Zen did...and which the iPod does not.

Buttons in more than one place.

The iRiver has buttons on the front AND side. If you're trying to manipulate the thing with one hand, you have to change the player's position in your hand to get to the side buttons, unless you're some kind of hand contortionist. With the iPod, all the buttons are right on the front, so you can do everything with your thumb, without having to shift the thing in your hands. Sure, this may not be a huge deal for some people, but I do a lot of bike riding, and I can scroll through playlists, pick songs, adjust volume, etc all with one hand while I'm riding, almost without looking at the thing. I was never able to do that with my Zen, and probably wouldn't with the iRiver either, as the buttons are placed similarly.

I'll probably buy this one if the price is right after christmas... I'm very happy with my iRiver iFP190TC, but I need one with larger storage soon... it's very important with a FM tuner built in so iPod is out of the question for me.

No idea what you're talking about. It may not be as easy but you can certainly use the Zen in one hand. Thumb on the right side...middle and index on the other side. Can't say the same about this player but it seems like a minor complaint anyway. Remote should solve any issues you may have with the button layout :p

I have one of I-river's cd/mp3 players and let me tell everyone that is considering anything from i-river....DO IT! They make the most high quality products. You pay for quality and image...which is very hard to justify nowadays....but most importantly:

I-river is absolutely CRAZY INSANE about keeping their products up to date. They are always adding new features and fixes. They upgrade their firmware regularly and are on the ball with their customer base.

I could not recommend them any higher.

If I want a MP3 player, I want a MP3 player...Not radio. Who the hell listens to radio down here? Radio stations suck, and there really isn't a point in listening to it. Just plays the same song about 500 times a day. ;)

I would get a iPod because it has more capacity. And if I ever get a Mac, then I wouldn't want something made from another company other than Mac, but of course this is if I ever get an MP3 player...But I know it'll be an iPod if I do. :D

iriver does look cool though, but I want to see what iPods next gen will look like.

It looks good, but I'm not sure about the analogue stick :s

Good pics of the silver one here

I know the analogue stick doesn't stick out much, but it's bound to get caught on something, eg when putting it in your pocket, it'll catch on the material on the outside of it.

Edit: hmm, this doesn't sound too good:

ft10.gif

Recognizes a maximum of 2000 folders and 9,999 files.(5,000 music files)

So does that mean it's only 5k songs with the eq turned on, or 5k songs max on the player (I don't see why the eq on would limit the number of songs)

Edit2: shouldn't this be in mobile devices.

You're kidding right? If anything, it's one of the more important features on the player. Unlike the people at Apple who seem to think stupid games and a calander is the way to impress a potential costumer, adding a fm tuner is the perfect addition to a mp3 player. Last time I checked, not one of the people I know that own a Ipod use any of the superflous features it boasts.

But suddenly people are going to use these extra features because one of them is *gasp* a radio?

No. I just think having a radio in a mp3 player is a nice touch. i miss listening to howard stern in the morning :(

There are other things about the player that make it the better of the two. Some can't just see past Ipod's stylistic features to even consider anything else. Silly if you ask me.

don't forget the little control you get, which s**t on everything, iPod can't touch em. built in voice recorder, ability to rip music on the fly. This give you so much more than the iPod, i can't wait for their next version (iriver), believe what people say iRiver is the best company for mp3 player. just look take a look

but some ppl dont use recording etc...i mean...i use an mp3 player to listen to music..thats that...lol

See, now this is where the US and the UK is different because BBC Radio 1 is actually decent and they have a lot of decent bands in doing live performances, especially this week because iet's One Live in Brighton so they've got a crapload of sweet, sweet bands playing live, so not only would I be able to switch over to the radio but I could be recording all these live performances.

You might have **** radio stations in the US but Radio 1 is pretty decent here.
