JK1150: dell axim is not really an mp3 player...its kind of BIG and also it doesnt have as much as storage..but its a nice pocket pc! :)

Sammy2066: ihp-100 is the older one isnt it? the ihp-120 is the same price as ipod.

Agreed. I used to have a Dell Axim X5 at work which I used as an MP3 player when I went on some training a few months back.. I found it to be frustrating to use in that role as its not really designed to be used like that.

I put a 512MB CF card into it, and whilst it was handy to have some music to listen too, trying to manage Windows Media Player for Pocket PC is a bit of a pain in the neck, and particularly large MP3's used to misbehave a bit.

Best off with a proper MP3 player.. my 20GB iPod should be here this week or next :D :D :D :D :D :)

and yet some of you will still pick Ipod over this.

Sure I'll pick the iPod over this.

One word: INTEGRATION

I plug my iPod into my powerbook and in a few minutes my entire music library is transferred to the iPod intact. No work required by me. no dragging files. If I change the tags of some songs, iTunes automatically makes those changes on the iPod next time I plug it in. No need for me to re-transfer songs. If I put a bunch of music on my powerbook in a short period of time, iTunes remembers what's already on my iPod and automatically updates my iPod with only the new songs. No need for me to remember what's already on my iPod. I like that. And it charges while it's plugged into the firewire port on my powerbook...Sure it only gets 8 hours of battery life, but I've yet to have the battery get even close to low because I'm always syncing it with my powerbook and it charges while it updates. Also, it charges to 80% in 60 minutes. That's nice too.

So when the 20GB iPod and 20GB iRiver are the same price...yeah, I'll still pick iPod, thanks.

a friend of mine saw my iPod the other day, fell in love with it instantly... then we walked by a store selling all sort of mp3 players, i showed her the iRiver and told her what features that the iRiver has that the iPod doesn't. she said she doesn't give a damn, the iRiver is butt-ugly.

couldn't agree more. :D

That's fine. Most people don't like buying proprietary hardware :p In your case, I would go with just the ipod as well. No sense in trying to get something else to work with a Mac.

as i said before...design is a big factor in buying electronics...(in this case mp3 players)

aaron901's story is almost like mine....my friend at school got an ipod for his bday 1-2 weeks ago..and he let me hold it...use it...etc...and i fell in love with it too...and theni saw the iriver...but i still didnt care about the features that ipod doesnt have( radio, line in recording...you can buy ipod addons for that)

lmfao is this argument still going on?

Some peeps get a tad insecure and leap to the defensive once someone dares to offer an alternative to their product of choice. And, of course, they will spend the next 8 pages defending their purchase with a damn grocery list of reasons why you should buy the iPod over a rival product. If you are at all like me and could not give a toss than you will admit that you secretly get a kick out of watching them fawn over a product that bares a disturbing resemblance to a shower radio....

Steve Jobs has one hell of a sweet deal though. Apple fans have my utmost respect. No, really it is true. They are so damn dedicated. Never before have I seen a group of people so staunchedly defend a product. Infact I am willing to bet Apple could probably market and release crap. A turd. Hell it could even come in 5 fruity flavors. Berry, orange, lemon, lime and tangerine. Let's for arguments sake call it the iTurd and undoubtedly you guys would buy it. Slap an apple logo on it and BOOYA!!! You'll be all over it like flies on the proverbial cow pat.....

I admit some Apple fans are a bit fanatical about some of the hardware.. but quite frankly the iPod IS an excellent product, and Apple fans are right to defend it!

I gotta say that.. I am waiting on mine and I have no idea how good / bad its gonna be. iPodLounge seem to like it though ;)

Maybe some diehard fans, but I like apple because there products are good, not because of the company :p

When I used to use winblows and first saw the iPod I knew it was sweet and that I would have to get one someday :p This was when I hated apple and thought there computers sucked....
