ashpowell
Basically the more things you have in the room, the more it'll dampen the noise.
Nothing Here
Throw rugs are pretty inexpensive. Toss a few of those on the floor.
MikeChipshop Member Posted December 23, 2012 Member Share Posted December 23, 2012 Curtains, carpets, rugs, cloth. (Y) This ^^^ Fabrics absorb sound whilst hard surfaces reflect it. Try putting a rug down or some thinker curtains up. Alternatively you can by sound absorption board normally used in recording studios but this aren't particularly pretty. http://www.soundproofcow.com/I-Can-t-Hear-Anything-in-Here-Sound-Absorption
Detection
Wall rugs will help too, they will absorb the sound Furniture too
pes2013
aren't particularly pretty. Doesn't matter as long as it is cheap.
MikeChipshop Member Posted December 23, 2012 Member Share Posted December 23, 2012 Doesn't matter as long as it is cheap. Check the link at the bottom of the post then, it'll work out cheaper than a rug... not an Ikea rug though. Of course there's the age old egg box method. Collect a bunch of egg boxes, stick 'em to some board and attach them to the wall. They'll disrupt any echo. Any particular reason you're looking to do this? Might help us identify the perfect solution.

MikeChipshop Member Posted December 23, 2012 Member Share Posted December 23, 2012 Makes talking in group difficult in the room. Sound absorption board it is then. Really nothing better than it for deadening sound. Should be able to pick it up at most home store type shops, not sure where you're based but larger Homebase/B&Q's usually stock it. Have a look here... (UK) http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&_nkw=sound+absorption Third item down is what we used in all recording studios we built.
