Sn00pY
to watch them on your DVD you need to use SVCD not DivX/XViD...i think you can tell Nero to make an SVCD from the DivX/XViD but it takes HOURS for it to encode and it will be crappy quality... Pink Floyd Veteran Posted November 2, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted November 2, 2003 No, nero doenst want it. It says incompatible format! PS.: I dont really care if it takes 4 hours to decode and reencode the movie to burn it. I can do it during the night or something...
spacey
yes, dvd players do not play .avi files, no matter what kind of codec (DivX or Xvid) you use. your best bet is to use SVCD, which should play in most DVD players. you will have to convert the .avi though, and it can be a lengthy process. www.doom9.net or www.vcdhelp.com for lots more info as i have never tried it myself. Tran
Won't the file be bigger than 700MB though? How will it fit on a CD? I tried doing this a while back but it didn't work.
Pink Floyd Veteran Posted November 2, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted November 2, 2003 I tried soemthing writen on vcdhelp.com. I was damn long. seperate the .avi into 2 mpg files. separate the audio from video nothing is synched at all! so I guess there is no lot of ppl downloading movie and burning them into svcd. they just keep the movie on their computer and watch them from there. bah, I give up! noll3095
Or you could just buy a DVD player that supports DivX and XviD. There's one out there made by KiSS but I have no idea how well it works if even at all.
Groovedude
what i do is... Split the .avi into 2 files.. using: Easy Video Splitter Then i extract the audio from each bit using: Virtual Dub Just select audio and put it to full processing mode.. then file save .wav Then to encode i use TMPGEnc Plus this is the long bit... you just loads the .avi with its sound file.. then choose the necessry option that suite you.. :)

oo420oo
www.vcdhelp.com everything you need to know about burning svcd, vcd i learned everything there - syncing sounds, authoring cds, you name it. Use your pc to play the divx / xvid and use your tv out on your video card to run it to your tv. or Read the guides at vcdhelp and learn. 90 minute movies in svcd format are never less than 2 cds for good quality. Not all dvd players play vcd, svcd. Look up yours at vcdhelp.com I have a Mintek dvd 1600 and it plays dvd cd mp3 vcd svcd raw mpegs!!! only $40 raw mpeg means you dont have to convert the file to vcd or svcd, just copy the mpeg to cd and play it in the dvd player. Also have Samsung P421 that plays all but raw mpegs. The next wave of dvd players will play divx files; a few have already appeared. KISS & panasonic. Expensive, though...
