radioboy
I've got a Plextor 16/8/40 running under XP Pro. I've tried Roxio, Nero, and CDRWIN in it. CDRWIN bluescreens the second I open it, and both Roxio and Nero can't seem to get past writing the table of contents, when I get a "no seek complete" error. I've turned DMA on and off, tried different brands of CD-Rs, nothing. Any ideas?
DoubleJ
Did you install an ASPI layer? If not use ForceASPI, it will install them for you. I found a link here.
nekrosoft13
reinstall the aspi layer, and get rid off roxio. i had the same problem. the problem was gone when i uninstalled the roxio, and reinstalled aspi. good luck p.s. it is 16/10/40 not 16/8/
radioboy
I think it may be a physical problem w/ the drive itself. I've tried booting and reading from the drive and neither will work, it just whirrs and dies.
nekrosoft13
then do a return or rma and get a new one. stick with plextor it is the best

nekrosoft13
or try finding the newest drivers for your motherboard
radioboy
I can tell the problem is definetly not a software problem. The CD just whirrs and whirrs, Windows, Linux, or whatever I run it in. Stop blaming crappy ASPI layers. I sat on hold w/ Plextor trying to get an RMA for almost 2 hours and got nothing. Damn techies.
