chrisj1968
I'm reading the book "the naked communist" and I have found out that Karl Marx was a lazy violent man. some excerpts from the book In June, 1843, the wedding took place. At the time the bridegroom was unemployed and Jenny von Westphalen soon discovered that this was to be a permanent characteristic of their entire married life. Karl Marx never acquired the slightest comprehension of the responsibilities which a husband assumes as the head of a family.W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 234-236). Buccaneer Books. Kindle Edition. emphasis added by me*** This was to be the pattern of his whole life. In later years while his family was starving he could be found at the library devoting himself to the interesting but, for him, completely unremunerative study of higher mathematics. Voltaire referred derisively to the breed of men who cannot run their own families and therefore retreat to their attics so that from there they can run the whole world. Marx seemed to fit this pattern. Although he seemed physically indolent, Marx was actually capable of prodigious quantities of intellectual work if it dealt with a subjectW. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 239-243). Buccaneer Books. Kindle Edition. Karl Marx was lazy and very inactive based upon the term according to merriam webster 2 a : averse to activity, effort, or movement : habitually lazy b : conducive to or encouraging laziness < indolent heat> c : showing an inclination to laziness <an indolent sigh> Thus far, I understand Marx wanted violent revolution against the capitalist style governments and became friends with Friedrich Engels, the son of a wealthy manufacturing magnate. Engels too, hated his fathers tough up bringing of hard work and work ethic. I'll repost more as I read more into the book....
chrisj1968
added: He mercilessly destroyed the character of a Mikhail Bakunin who, was a man who was loyal to Marx but marx did all he could to destroy bakunin; Bakunin became so enthusiastic in advocating Marx's principles that certain elements of the labor movement began gravitating toward his leadership. This was fatal. Marx immediately set out to destroy him.W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 392-394). Buccaneer Books. Then they spread a charge which later proved to be completely false -- that Bakunin had embezzled 25,000 francs. Finally, to administer the coup de grace, Marx succeeded in getting the International to oust Bakunin from the Association. By this act Marx secretly felt he had destroyed the last man who might seriously threaten his leadership.W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 395-397). Buccaneer Books. Kindle Edition. what affect did this have on Bakunin? What Marx did not know was the fact that in spite of this abuse, Bakunin would remain loyal to Marx's precepts, even translate Marx's books into Russian and thereby plant seeds which would ultimately bring the first nation in the modern world under a Communist dictatorship.W. chrisj1968
added: consolation. But the Marx children bore the scars of their upbringing. When Marx interfered with the courtship of his daughter, Eleanor, she entered a free-love union with Edward Aveling and, following a most wretched existence with him, committed suicide. Another daughter, Laura, married a renegade doctor and later died with him in a suicide pact.W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 435-438). Today our government postures for the communist manifesto through the 6 facets of the communist manifesto which are; When they were through they had announced to mankind that the new program of International Communism stood for: 1. the overthrow of capitalism, 2. the abolition of private property, 3. the elimination of the family as a social unit, 4. the abolition of all classes, 5. the overthrow of all governments, and 6. the establishment of a communist order with communal ownership of property in a classless, stateless society. To accomplish this, the Communist Manifesto was crystal clear as to the course to be taken:W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 295-299). His refusal or inability to compete in a capitalistic economy wrung from him a vitriolic denunciation of that economy and a prophecy that its destruction was inexorably decreed. His deep sense of insecurity pushed him to create out of his own imagination a device for interpreting history which made progress inescapable and a Communist millennium unavoidable. His personal attitude toward religion, morals and competition in everyday existence led him to long for an age when men would have no religion, morals or competition in everyday existence. He wanted to live in a classless, stateless, noncompetitive society where there would be such lavish production of everything that men, by simply producing according to their apparent ability, would automatically receive a superabundance of all material needs.W. (at Karl Marx's funeral) Friedrich Engels, read a funeral oration. It was the kind of oration Marx would liked to have heard. It granted him in death what Marx was never granted in life unequivocal tribute of glowing praise.W. Cleon Skousen (1962-01-01T06:00:00+00:00). The Naked Communist (Kindle Locations 445-446). Pam14160
Thank you. It has been a very long time since I was in college and studied the live and times of Marx. An interesting character study, but a trully sad individual.

Alwaysonacoffebreak
Alright I'll say this, I didn't read trough all of this but I will comment on the title alone. It's not as easy to say that communism was a lifestyle of arrogance and welfare. What welfare? If you didn't want to work you were forced to work, still didn't want to work, sure labour camp it was. (I'm not talking about labour camp like in WW2 style) Hell all in all communism was a better option for us than the EU is now. I'm sorry if it's a bit out of the topic you guys are reading and talking about but I just had to say something that was on my mind about communism. I'm sorry if it's a bit out of the topic you guys are reading and talking about but I just had to say something that was on my mind about communism. because he believed that the producers should provide for everyone based upon the abilities. Marx was lazy and couldn't compete in the capitalist society and his family suffered for it. communism was conceived by a man who was lazy, had an ego from hell, and he devised communism based upon his personal character. you can't successfully conceive a governmental system based upon the mindset of a maniac. the EU is socialism which, is the last step to full blown communism. I lived in Germany and they spent more on social welfare then anything else. that and when germans move by law, they have to do a polizeiliches anmeldung ( police registration) at their new locale. that's a socialistic police state. they force the germans to pay a tax to the GEZ for the ZDF and other PBS like channels. sick. Welcome to the conversation as for the welfare? Karl adored living off of engels money( his friend and follower), Engels gave him untold thousands to live off of and he squandered it. his wife and kids suffered terribly. Marx went to his uncle in holland and he gave marx 168 pounds, his wife thought they could pay off debts and live better then they were. however, Marx decided to take a trip to Germany and blew it on his trip and had almost nothing left. He lived off of hand outs from others and NEVER had a job his whole life. and his anger towards capitalism which actually seems more like a jealousy, formed his notion of communism and redistribution of wealth. in america today, we honor laziness and are now promoting what obama promotes, the karl marx theory of wealth redistribution. the people are eating it up! Alwaysonacoffebreak
Well that's the thing, he had a friend who actually paid him money to live off. Regular people didn't have that choice. Coming back to the comparsion of EU and USSR back then. Sure people didn't have much to take from stores with their foodstamps, didn't get paid much for their job but you know what, life was simpler back then, there were rearly any homeless people around here, there were only a few thevies because they know what would be their end if they would steal something. All-in-all say what you want about communism but it sure as hell beats the s*itpile we call the EU right now.
chrisj1968
my then German girlfriend had the logic, why should I work when I can get more off of sozialhilfe(welfare)? not all are bad.. but the mentallity I saw in my 12.5 years there was live off of welfare. Mihail bakunin noted about Karl Marx; Another characteristic of Marx which he shared with his intellectual off-spring -- Communism -- is that both must be viewed from a distance to be admired, even by friends. It is for this reason that biographers often treat Marx as though he were two persons. From a distance they might feel to admire his theories but upon close contact Marx becomes a different entity. Thus, Bakunin could call Marx the "supreme economic and socialist genius of our day" and then give the following evaluation of Marx, the man: "Marx is egotistical to the pitch of insanity....W. Karl didn't have the desire to work for his keep. so he got someone who idolized him(Engels) to send him money to live off of. sure Engels had a choice to do it or not, but the point being, Karl was lazy and wanted someone to pay his way through life. I believe this formed the ideal in Marx's mind to hate capitalism and create the notion of wealth redistribution. however, in all the communism's I knew of in my life time.. only the leaders lived well. the EU is no different. the US is also no different now
Alwaysonacoffebreak
I see this mentality here every day all day that people are just too lazy to work and live off welfare, I find that stupid and it actually ****es me off to know that I go to work everyday and pay for their lazyness trough taxes. See..bring back some of the communism mentality and it would be fine, no slacking. It might seem harsh to "force" someone to work but thats the only way it can work, I ain't here to pay for you nor anyone else, the same goes for Greece now, they had budget cuts to stabilize themselves and then riots came? What the hell.. This just shows how messed up the EU is, let it die off and see from there, be it even communism, I don't care. There's not much difference between the EU and the old USSR anyway. The country does what it wants(or what it's told to do) without asking anyone. :p
sanctified Veteran Posted January 19, 2013 Veteran Share Posted January 19, 2013 I fail to understand your point. Pragmatically there's really no relation between knowledge and it's creator. Thats a genetic fallacy.
carmatic
Today I learnt that Karl Marx was German , not Russian I always thought that Communism = USSR = Russia and therefore everybody who had anything to do with Communism was Russian I fail to understand your point. Pragmatically there's really no relation between knowledge and it's creator. Thats a genetic fallacy. it is a fallacy, but how can it be genetic? communism, just like any other economic system, is an abstract construct, so it is indeed irrelevant to any single human life, but it is nice to see the system from the context of the person who almost everyone associates with it, and his personal reasons for embracing it
sanctified Veteran Posted January 19, 2013 Veteran Share Posted January 19, 2013 it is a fallacy, but how can it be genetic? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_fallacy The fallacy is that you cannot judge a set of theoretic proposals based on the creator. rfirth 1 Share
