Mission thread: SpaceX Dragon SPX-2 to ISS

Recommended Posts

Ahh you said splashdown at ~noon eastern, and then it goes to TPoLA.

Then splashdown in the pacific.

For a minute I thought it was going to splashdown on the east coast and then trucked over to LA.

I could have probably seen it re-enter if I had known. :p

It's no guess - Dragon steers itself on the way down using its Draco thrusters and GPS guidance. Once the SuperDraco landing thrusters are installed in the DragonRider crew version they plan on putting it down with propulsion instead of 'chutes and with helipad accuracy. Just like a 1950's sci-fi movie :)

From SpaceX:

Many thanks on behalf of SpaceX for the congratulations on this interesting yet successful mission. All hands on deck for the F9v1.1 salvo.

The "F9v1.1 salvo" refers to having 3 flights in just 6 weeks in late June to thd end of July.
