Current AutoPatcher XP Information and Download

When there is nothing present prior to running Autopatcher, and something present (Alexa) after running Autopatcher, what put it there?

Fortunately, AdAware is very good at removing Alexa. But AutoPatcher DID install it, and I did NOT tell it to.

Maybe you mean the "Alexa" registry key that Internet Explorer has by default.. Is not a big deal..

Yes IE has Alexa registry values as default ... if you run your adaware, spybot etc on a clean install of windows it will detect it. Microsoft has had it included for years.

BTW, every update to IE just sets the registry back for Alexa.

But, see... this is the thing. AutoPatcher does NOT contain Alexa. We've tested it over and over and over again. It doesn't contain that. It must be comin' from somewhere else. :/

God I hate people who like to complain about things when they have no clue what they are talking about. Just because YOU think the problem is Autopatcher, doesn't mean you are right. Autopatcher does NOT install spyware or anything of that sort. Now, why don't you just re-download the package and MD5 check it.

And if you're not happy with the bonus stuff get the ultra-lite version and quit whining and accusing AP of things it didn't do.

I agree with xplatinum, re-download the file and then DO AN MD5 on it !!!

Other people could have slipped something into one of the .reg files and now you install it, cause you downloaded it from a Newsgroups or torrent or whatever ...

and did NOT check the MD5 ...

I would .... before blaming Autopatcher

I've already spent hours downloading it three times so far. That's enough. I've got better things to do with my life than download the same thing over and over and over again, particularly given the instability of the sites hosting the file.

Sorry, the sites hosting aren't unstable. They just have a limited amount of bandwidth, and go down when they run out. That's all. I thank each and every one for supplying the bandwidth free of charge just to help out. But if you want to think the hosts are unstable, and the AutoPatcher installed spyware onto your system, I can't stop you. *shrugs*

My Server went offline, coz AP was killing it, ROFLMAO :p

So I have moved it to a different Server !!! If this one gets bogged down with request's, i'll have to limit to amount of connections !!! But ATM it's unlimited...

URL is still: http://tin-ferret.sytes.net/cgi-bin/downlo...erXP_Mar04_Full

Thanks, and enjoy,

Ferret !

Very impatiant, ain't we !!!

Just do what most of us do, leave it running over night, is usually downloaded by the morning, if not, leave it running when you go to work, and should be almost guarntee'd be to downloaded ;)

Impatient? I don't think so. When I first downloaded AutoPatcher - the full February release - I had no problems downloading it - so I probably got spoiled by that. When downloading the March Update, however, the servers would keep kicking me off - so leaving it on and going to bed wouldn't have helped. They WEREN'T out of bandwidth, because I could re-connect to the same server and it would download the file (partially) again. It was as if the entire file wasn't on the server I was downloading from (and the other servers were out of bandwidth). Of course, this was the first couple of days after the March update was released, so I imagine the servers were getting hammered.

FlishFun: I've concluded that the original "Update" pack I downloaded somehow got corrupted on the server I downloaded it from, since the full release I downloaded didn't have any of the problems (the Alexa registry entry being the only weird thing, and that being in Windows by default).

If I had waited until the weekend, I probably wouldn't have had any problems with the download. Hindsight is always 20/20, though.

If you want to complain about something that's free and that people take their time and work on, etc. and the servers you download from are donated, etc. etc. you won't find a shoulder here. Try a download manager or something so it'll reconnect. Also about it kicking you off, that's probably because the bandwidth was probably capped and shot over the limit causing a disconnect. Geez dude, don't use it if you want to complain about everything.

Well, this just keeps getting stranger alright.

Reinstalled XP. Ran AutoPatcher March Update - had NO Internet access at the time, so nothing could have been downloaded without my knowledge (no NIC drivers installed). When I got done updating with AutoPatcher, I installed AdAware and SpyBot, and both found Alexa installed. Although, my home page wasn't changed because I didn't have one set yet, and the malicious files noted earlier aren't present now.

An Alexa cookie is installed as default with WINDOWS XP - simply get rid of it. This is not on the Autopatcher. Proof? Re-install just WinXP then run Adawre and you will still get the Alexa cookie.

Blame MS for that one. :ninja:

I have an FTP site with all 4 files for the March release. Hopefully, everyone will get a decent connection speeds. I have the account capped to 3 logins at one time to see how performance goes. Try not to hammer it.

Happy Downloading!

Only got about 10 downloads yesterday for AutoPatcher ...guess demand has weaned off. Any chance of linking to me on http://www.mrbass.org here http://autopatcher.com/DownloadXP.htm under Full release links? If not no biggie. I added a 2nd mirror which most likely isn't needed, time will tell. Thanks FlishFun.

Will do, mate. Just hadn't gotten around to it. Will do it right now. (Y) (Prepare to see an increase)

yeah there's a tad more traffic...so far nothing I can't handle (knock on wood). As soon as autopatcher2000 comes out I'll make a nice page for that.

mirror 6 on Full Release has been UP past couple of days ..might want to change status of that one.

I added UltraLite. Can you link to http://www.mrbass.org instead of directly to it since it won't work since I have hotlinking activated. ...all three links (two Fulls and one UltraLite) are listed there near the bottom of the page.

    • Just pull a 4Chan and ignore the UK gov, or better troll them. It's not like they can enforce the fine across border.
    • It has NEVER been shown that all these overreaching creepy methods of surveillance have ever saved a child or prevented a terrorist attack. Not a single one. It's the kind of people like you who just wave it away as "paranoid conspiracy" that makes big tech and governments this creepy mass data hoarding entities. Not only that, 3/4 of these surveillance ideas undermine the very foundations of safe online communication because they always want to have a backdoor in everything "just in case" they might need it to... checks the notes "save the children". If you put a backdoor into encryption chain there is no encryption chain anymore. You know what encryption keeps safe? Your medical records, your online shopping and credit card during payment, your photos in the cloud, your emails, your passwords, everything. There is ZERO guarantee only the good guys will use it. And if you think police suddenly can't apprehend child abusers because of encryption, Epstein was running his entire sex trafficking ring using GMail which is not even encrypted end to end. Or to make matters even worse, USA has a **** and a good buddy of Epstein as a president. Absolutely NOTHING has been done to address it. Maxwell just got a better "hotel" room as a reward. This clearly shows how they absolutely don't really care about the children but they care about the absolute control over all of us. And you're defending them here. Good grief. On top of constant attempts to insert backdoors into encryption chain, the entire age verification nonsense is again entirely over reaching, creepy, invades everyone's privacy with premise of yet again "protecting the children" instead of demanding device makers to provide simple and powerful tools for PARENTS to control how their children use devices and what they do on them. THIS would be the way, not the stupid age verification for everyone. Imagine if government would be dictating companies how their phones work and not the company's IT department. The parents should be the IT department to their children. And for everyone excusing "they are not knowledgeable enough" buuuuuulsheat. We live in a digital age, if you have children now, you absolutely are well versed in digital everything at least to basic extent. If you're not, how do you even function in these times then? Reality is that parents are just lazy and don't want to deal with this. They want government to raise their kids because they are too busy scrolling stupid Instagram and Tiktok or some bs.
    • You could make the argument that K should not be included, but FC, the fried chicken, is not the framework, it's the product. It's the Paint in Paint.NET. A closer analogy is if KFC included the name of the deep fryer they used. HennyPennyFC.

    • Apple is expanding Private Cloud Compute beyond its own data centers by Pradeep Viswanathan At WWDC 2026, as part of the improved Apple Intelligence capabilities, Apple today announced that it is expanding Private Cloud Compute (PCC), its privacy-focused cloud infrastructure for Apple Intelligence, beyond its own data centers for the first time. Private Cloud Compute was designed to handle Apple Intelligence requests that are too complex to run fully on-device. The PCC system does not store user data and does not allow Apple or anyone else to access user requests. Last year, Apple also expanded its Security Bounty program with rewards of up to $1 million for researchers who could find serious vulnerabilities in PCC. Until now, Apple's PCC data centers were using Apple's own silicon. As part of the expansion, Apple is working with Google and NVIDIA to run new Apple Intelligence workloads on Google Cloud systems powered by NVIDIA GPUs. Apple will be using this new infrastructure to execute more demanding AI tasks while maintaining the same privacy and security guarantees of PCC. The new implementation uses NVIDIA Confidential Computing with NVIDIA GPUs, Intel CPUs with TDX, and Google’s Titan chip. Apple says it has worked with Google to build additional protections beyond a traditional confidential computing deployment. Despite the expansion to third-party data centers, Apple claims that its core PCC requirements remain unchanged, including stateless computation, no privileged runtime access, non-targetability, and verifiable transparency. The company highlighted that it will continue to control the PCC software stack, and Apple devices will only trust PCC software that has been cryptographically approved by Apple. To take security to the next level, Apple mentioned that it is maintaining an append-only ledger of Google Cloud hardware that is part of the PCC fleet. The company claims this will help reduce the risk of supply chain attacks. In addition to AI infrastructure, Apple also worked with Google to use technologies behind the Gemini family of models to build the next generation of Apple Foundation Models to power Apple Intelligence features across on-device and cloud workloads. As expected, for more demanding AI tasks like agentic tool use and complex reasoning, Apple will rely on the expanded PCC infrastructure running on Google Cloud. The expansion of PCC on Google Cloud will gradually ramp toward the full set of protections during the summer preview period. As before, Apple will also publish binaries for public inspection, provide research tooling, and give researchers access to live PCC nodes in research mode through the Apple Security Bounty Program.
