if you are in xp... you should try to reinstall ie over top of itself or even remove it and reinstall it.

You could always try mozilla, the nightlies are better (but sometimes buggier) then the releases.

There's always opera, but that's not free (except the sponsored/banner version?). Mozilla may not be the greatest thing around right now, but it will be. :)

stick this in prefs.js, and no more popups! :)

user_pref("dom.disable_open_during_load", true);

luff!

you could try this:

go to the Internet Options

go to the Advanced Tab

click the "restore defaults" button on the bottom.

i can right click and save as just fine, but if i just click the link for a file dl it opens it basically like it would open an image just displays that little icon in the browser window rather than popping up a download dialog.

IE has some problems. Every once in a while when I close it, iexplore stops responding. Fun. Maybe SP1 might have a fix...

u have the road runner throbber.... did you by any chance install the enhancement package that they have for 5.5, because that replaces files when it installs no matter what version they are.

just a thought

Try this:

  1. Go into Folder Options
  2. Find the .zip filetype and click "Advanced"
  3. Check the "Confirm open after download" option

Then try to download a zip file off the internet.
