Exchange question

Question

At work, I work in a non-main office that connects to a server in the head office using remote desktop connection in Windows. We use Outlook 2007 and exchange from within the remote desktop.

If I try to login to the exchange server using Outlook on my local computer rather than inside the remote desktop, I am unable to do so. Do I need to connect through a VPN or install Outlook Anywhere on the server in order to accomplish this? If I enter the same details into my iPhone or Nexus 7, I get e-mails/contacts/calendar fine, I just can't login using Outlook on my local computer.

Thanks in advance!

You should enable outlook anywhere. Not much to install, just turn on the feature. Sounds like active sync is enabled on the server just need the piece in the tab next to active sync to be enabled.

outlook anywhere + rpc over http proxy is my best guess. the latter is missed by many first-time exchange deployment scenarios.
