eXclusive
You need to disable VPU recover in ATi control panel.

devilotX
My experiance states that you should never "upgrade" your Radeon drivers Uninstall the old Catalyst driver and reinstall the new ones, that solved most of the issues I had.
Frost_311
I had the same problem, I was most of the way through training and it just turned off my monitor and lost signal although I can still hear the game running fine... if I shot I could hear it, ect.. And when I turned of VPU it has worked fine since then. I just built the system and I know that its not overheating, all other games work fine... I'm running a 9800XT. EDIT: Yeah I'd uninstall the old drivers first (I'm a convert, I used to have Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4400) But I already found that ATI comes with a very cool uninstall program that removes every trace of the driver and then all you need to do is restart and install the new ones, worked perfect for my first upgrade from 3.8 to 3.
DreamweaverN
Yep seems VPU Recover is more trouble than it is worth. I think I'll wait till CAT4 before doing my reformat :/.

jjypk
Try using 128MB textures in the game, even if your Radeon GPU uses 256MB. The game just crashes with my Radeon 9700 using 256MB textures, probably because mine is equipped with 128MB RAM. I don't use the latest Catalyst drivers ( I use 3.6) so my incident is probably not related...
PcKiller
I have been playing this game for quite sometime now. I used 3.8, and when 3.9 came out, used them. never had a problem with either driver using the extra texture settings.

Before that, it was the 3.8's, and fast write is enabled on both of them. Never had any problem running Call of Duty at 1,600 by 1,200 32 bit color with 6X AA, and 16x AF. :woot:
