Independent developer Dennaton Games and rogue game publisher Devolver Digital have announced that the award-winning Hotline Miami will arrive on the PlayStation?3 (PS3?) and PlayStation?Vita (PS Vita) this coming spring. Crashing onto the scene last fall, Hotline Miami grabbed the attention of gamers all over the world with stylish sights and sounds, tough as nails gameplay, and a perplexing narrative that garnered Dennaton Games? debut effort awards and nominations from nearly every video game media outlet. Hotline Miami has gone on to sell over 300,000 units on PC and solidified its place amongst the best releases of 2012.

?Our team have been fans of Hotline Miami from the very start and we are absolutely thrilled to have such a brilliant game launch on the PlayStation platform,? said Shahid Ahmad, Senior Business Development Manager, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). ?The intense visuals and pulsing soundtrack are perfectly suited for PS3 and PS VIta and we can?t wait for PlayStation fans to see what Hotline Miami is all about.?

Dutch developer Abstraction Games has been appointed to deliver Hotline Miami?s trademark style and gameplay to both PS3 and PS Vita via PlayStation?Network under the guidance of Dennaton Games. Hotline Miami will also launch with Cross-Buy allowing gamers to play Hotline MIami on both PS3 and PS Vita with a single purchase. Boom.

?The Devolver Digital team is hyped to see Hotline Miami hit PS3 and PS Vita,? said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. ?However, this Cross-Buy thing might prohibit me from achieving my long-standing dream of wearing a gold plated PS Vita around my neck. Total bummer.?

I am very, very psyched about this, and I actually own the game on PC via Steam, just have not been able to check it out yet even though I have really wanted to. But this is a great example of a comment I made a couple weeks back on the forums, Sony just seems to no doubt support the independent games more than MS at the end of the day. That is not a bragging thing, just what I view to be a fact. I commend them for it, as these games may have not gotten to console gamers otherwise. I will no doubt be picking this up.

Game looks like absolute garbage (im guessing intentionally), looks like a zombie type game I used to play on my PC @ work (on some flash based site). Hopefully the gameplay more than makes up for how it looks.

It is being called the indy game of the year by various outlets, not just one, and the graphics are no doubt intentional. Supposed to be very trippy on purpose. I like them myself. Stylized ugly.
