Passport Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I am about to apply for my first UK passport, I went online and filled in the application form, filling in all of the details they asked for, they then sent me a completed application form for me to finish off with the supporting evidence or whatever before sending off.

Now, I'm slightly confused about something because I've been told that if you make a mistake on your form, you basically have to fill in another form and pay the fee again, is that correct? I was also told the post office have a "check and send" service which they charge you extra for so they check it and if its wrong you fix it before sending it away, but I've looked on the passport website and there is nothing on there that says any of this?

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Jason

You won't get charged for any mistakes as far as I know, it ill however delay the process of your form because they'll need to contact you to get the correct details.

The Post Office does have a check and send service so it's worth doing if you're a little unsure about what you've filled in.

Seriously, just take it to the post office - check & send, costs less than ?10 - but then you're certain that there are no issue which will prevent them issuing the passport asap.

When I filled out my passport my signature went out side of the box, I didn't realise and they sent it back to me to correct with a new application form. They didn't ask for any more money, it just took around 2 weeks longer to process.

When I applied for mine they made me get 10 years worth of bank statements from my bank, they made everything so difficult I started thinking I was on The Truman Show, the bank wasn't impressed either and had never heard of them asking anyone for that before

I got it in the end and 8 years later I've only ever used it for ID :p
