Deadline has word that Matthew McConaughey currently has an offer for the lead male role in Interstellar, the film which the filmmaker boarded earlier this year with a script by his brother, The Dark Knight and The Prestige writer Jonathan Nolan. Though there are no plot details divulged, the film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding and McConaughey would play a guy named Cooper.

The last we heard about this project was that it was based on scientific theories by Caltech astrophysicist Kip Thorne that involved time travel, alternative dimensions and more familiar tropes as a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. This would be a huge role for McConaughey, and considering all the top notch acting he's been turning in over the past few years, it's no surprise that Nolan sees something in him. McConaughey's recent great work includes Magic Mike, Bernie, Killer Joe, Mud, The Lincoln Lawyer and The Paperboy.

Little is known about the film at this point, although we do know that the screenplay has been written by both Christopher and Johnathan Nolan. The site adds that the, "ambition is a film that will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding"

Rises was OK movie but it had so much hype because of TDK that it was going to disappoint in one way or another.

it's just me or the third movie of a trilogy is always the sucky one? I mean Terminator 3 (when there was only three of them), Alien 3 (same), Shrek the Third, Scream, Saw III, Rocky III, Jurassic Part III, and so on...
