The Adventures of Tintin: Red Rackham's Treasure is still planned for 2015, Steven Spielberg has confirmed.

There have been very few updates on the sequel to 2011's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn since its announcement last year.

"Don't hold me to it, but we're hoping the film will come out around Christmas time in 2015," Spielberg told The Times of India.

"We know which books we're making, we can't share that now but we're combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Herg?."

Spielberg has previously confirmed that the second film will be based on Herg?'s book Prisoners of the Sun, although rumours have since surfaced that other books - including The Calculus Affair - will also be incorporated.

Producer Peter Jackson also stated in December that the sequel is on track for a 2015 release.

Anthony Horowitz has been named as the sole writer for the sequel, in contrast to the first which was co-penned by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish.

Looking forward to it, the first was one of my favorite animated movies ever pretty much. The animation itself was just as good as it gets. Visually amazing.

The first one was cool movie.

Was the whole thing CGI or was a lot of it real footage with CGI composting?

100% CGI. The fact that you have to ask tells you how awesome the CGI is!
