+BudMan MVC Posted March 15, 2013 MVC Share Posted March 15, 2013 Ok to your 100 connection speed on your desktop, that router you menaion the 605L only has 10/100 ports - so are you plugged into some other gig switch? http://www.dlink.com.au/products/?pid=917 4-Port 10/100 Switch As to your router being 300mbps and your only seeing 75, what wireless nic does your laptop have. How do you have your router configured, I show that 605L as a very low end entry level router. Your in the $35 dollar range, single band, fixed antennas, 10/100 ports, etc. etc. I would have to say your lucky getting 75 with it.. How far away from the router are you, what other wireless networks around that might cause interference, etc. etc.. As to only seeing 30 - 50 mbps over wired, I doubt such router can handle 100mbps throughput from wan to lan with nat. Here I show it at 87.2 http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/router-charts/bar Think about it, its only got a 100mbps interface -- you never see 100% of an interfaces rated speed. High 80's to low 90's is the best your ever going to get out of that interface. I assume your doing testing via wired I hope. Your wireless is not going to be anywhere close. Are you double natting? That is not going to help in performance - what is in front of your 605L? For 100mbps I would assume your on a docsis 3 modem? How many channels? Overall with what you have stated, seeing 50mbps down is prob pretty good.
