Adnan248999
Does anyone really know how they produced the special effects in films as old as Terminator 2 etc even before then they managed to pull off some cool effect I mean its not like they had full blown pentiums back then. What exactly did they use? Was it even a computer? If anyone has the answer then let's have it cos this is a subject thats been nibbling my brain for the past few years. azcodemonkey
They used SGIs ( Silicon Graphics ), but more so, they used practical effects. That is, physical models shot in front of blue screens. Of course, the T-1000 was all digital for morphing effects and metallic effects. Truly ground-breaking work. poind
Some companies did have funds to have access to more "advanced" computers and technology. They weren't doing things on home / consumer-level computers. A lot was certainly done via various film techniques already available. Jurassic Park (in 1993--just 2 years after Terminator 2) had even far more advanced technological stuff used at times, though it certainly cost them. DVD's of films like these probably even have extras / commentary that explain some of the techniques that were used then (?). Heck, right now you'd probably be pretty stuck to do something like Finding Nemo unless you had tens of millions of dollars for technology and some pretty informed/knowledgable people about how things can be accomplished. SpicyBeef
Maybe they have some inside access to Intel or AMD.
