Radix
Wich cooler do you advice for an Athlon XP+ (1700) processor? A Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3 (4900rpm) is that a good choice ??
masterbug
I use the spire part# 5e34b3-h and my temp doesnt come above 55 degrees Celsius. I think this one works just fine

WaRRioR
I have a XP1600+ and I use the Volcano 6Cu+ 7000 rpm fan. System Temp[system: 35?C, CPU 38?C, Fan(1): 7272RPM] That is the hottest that my chip has ever got even under 100% load. Fan is a little loud but that is the cost for having a nice and cool cpu. Trojin
I have a Athalon XP 1700+ and a Volcano 6Cu+ 7000 rpm fan and it runs at 68 and thats high as hell but I don;t know what to use. If anyone can suggest anything better please do.
Radix
Is the motherboard also important in the cooling process ???
WaRRioR
68 degrees ouch, are you sure that the fan is plugged in and working ? Like I said in a earlier post mine has never gone above 38 degrees period.

WebOrbiter
I have an Alpha PAL8045 and its quiet, I get about 35-41 Celcius depending on what Im doing, if you dont want to go all out moneywise, just get a Swiftech MCXC370, its $45 w/ fan at http://www.newegg.com My friend just got it for his XP 1800+ and he likes it just fine :)
Nowhereman
The Swiftech MCX 462 with delta fan is an awesome cooler.. I have my Athlon XP 1800+ running at 1643Mhz with the temp at 86 degrees Farenheit... sorry I don't have the celsius numbers here with me.. at idle I have seen the temps drop to as low as 72F , but that's in a cool room.. normal idle temnp is about 80-82F
Radix
Those are heavy coolers, they weight over 500 grams. So whats the best temperature for an XP 1700 between 35?-40? ??
Nowhereman
As far as I can see, weight is not an issue with this cooler... its 4 point mounting takes the stress off the CPU and makes installing safer than a clip on type cooler...
