Prometheus Sequel Development Reportedly In Trouble

Recommended Posts

the first movie in a trilogy is rarely the best (hence why trilogies are excluded from the rule that sequels always suck), to much of the movie is used for setting up the story and characters, granted only one character survived this one but... .

The Matrix says Hi :p

Granted, they stole the script for the first Matrix movie, and they they wrote the sequels themselves. So that explains that. And I said rarely.

I still haven't seen it yet. People who I know who have seen it told me not to rush out and get it.

It was a great movie for those of us that love thinking and complex movies, even my teenage Son got it, it was definitely NOT a movie movie goer that needs the story to be spoon fed to them

I didn't say that I didn't get it, I said it didn't make much sense. Any 8 year old could understand that movie, but an intelligent one would see it for what it was...

Prometheus tried very hard to be on the level of 2001, but ended up more around 1955-57 on a cereal box.

Here's a theory on what could happen:

-Second movie piles up more nonsensical garbage on top of the stuff we saw in the first one.

-Third movie piles up even more nonsensical garbage on top of the previous two.

-Last fifteen minutes of third movie explain that Prometheus actually crashed in the first movie, killing everyone, and it was all just a dream/purgatory. We see the entire crew getting back together in heaven.

-Brought to you by Damon Lindelof.

If you actually love "thinking & complex movies", then I can't imagine why you'd talk this film up.

Prometheus is just contrived nonsense. It's dramatically flat, thematically clumsy... anything of any merit is handled in such a childishly ambiguous & incoherent manner that it's utterly uninteresting & completely unsatisfying.

To me, Prometheus was the "Matrix Reloaded" of 2012.

Big on flash/style but a bastardization of the previous film(s)....AND had no proper ending.

Spot on. The plot itself wasn't clever or "complex", it was downright simple, or maybe simplistic. Then unrewarding and unnecessary layers were added to make it seem more intelligent. Ends were left open, plot holes were abundant. And then explained away with "You don't get it".

I don't think M. Night Shyamalan will direct the 2nd and 3rd prometheus movie.
