320 MPH?

Recommended Posts

That's KM/H, 320KM/H = 200 MPH ;) ....

And it's the dashboard of the CL65 AMG, which is a beautiful car  ....

Radish?

$5 says that it can get close to that speed, according to the tac it loooks as if its a BI-turbo V12

i bet it can easily get above 175

It can easily go over 210 MPH if the speed limiter is removed ....

Radish?

There's no speed limiter, only a RPM limiter. If you deactivate that, you can push it further in the last gear, but turbos usually don't like to go over the max RPM (more engine RPM, more exhaust gases, higher turbo RPMs), they rather die quickly when doing so.

then you add a waste gate and run a hybrid turbo (low flow exhaust high flow intake ;) )

ummm I've done over 130 MPH with my Oldsmobile Aurora - that's 209 KPH.... if my V8 sedan can do that rather effortlessly, that Mercedes can kick ass.

Besides, the owner can get it reprogrammed if it is truly limited.

The CL65 AMG won't do no 200mph. It probably won't even hit 160mph. Just like the CL55 AMG, the speedometer registers way over what the car can actually do. The CL55 AMG can barely do 140mph but the speedometer registers about 190mph. The only Mercedes that will do anywhere near 200mph(over 200mph actually) is the CLK-GTR.

(EDIT)It looks like I am right.

Top speed = 249.4 kph / 155 mph

The ordinary Mercedes S600 sedan can do 191 MPH on its normal aspriated 6-litre V12 engine, considering that the CL65 AMG is a Bi-Turbo V12 - it will easily topple 200 MPH ....

Oh and that link you posted that it stops at 155 MPH is the speed restriction placed on all Mercedes Benz vehicles ....

Ok, lets say that you can remove the RPM limiter and it can hit near 200mph, but would you really want to go that fast in that car? I don't think I would. Why? Because look at how it is shaped. It doesn't look to be a very aerodynamic car nor does it have a desirable wheelbase for that speed.

This is a car that is designed to go 200mph and still handle well.

This is not designed to go 200mph.

The CL65 AMG has a long enough wheelbase/power for that kind of speed, considering its prepared by AMG ....

Also, I think many people would buy a CL65 AMG over an CLK-GTR - the looks alone of the CL65 AMG win & the road version of the CLK-GTR is tamed to meet specific standards for safety ....

People like the idea of not buying a full-fledged supercar, when they can get that kind of power in a Coupe ....

Switch up the gears, give it some more power and you could get most any car with a big engine going that fast. It might just take a while. And you might want to do it on a very smooth surface.

I would be afraid to take a coupe 200mph. They simply don't have the aerodynamics and body design to handle safely at that speed. The way the front of the CL65 is shaped would actually make it likely that the car would aeroplane at such a high speed(the wind would lift the front end of the car off of the ground and cause it to flip, tumble and turn). If you look at cars that are designed to go at insane high speeds(185+ mph) like the CLK-GTR, Zonda, McLarlen, the newer Dodge Vipers, the new Corvette Z06's, the Corvette C5, Lamborghini Murcielago, Ferrari F550 and F50, etc. you will notice that they are all aerodynamically shaped and their front end is designed to prevent aeroplaning.

Yeah, but you won't see any aeroplaining from this car tho;)h ;) ....
