phantomAI
I am interested in using my PS2 controller for my PC. I know there are some converters out there, can someone recommend them to me? How do they work, meaning will the PS2 contoller be then recognized as regular comp game pads in which I can use for any game that supports a gamepad? +John Teacake MVC Posted November 9, 2003 MVC Share Posted November 9, 2003 i think you can order them off play.com. My friends have ordered these ones, its reasonably cheap and it seems to work alright.
CrowaX
I just got the one from Radio Shack last week. and its great. its $10, but only available on the website. so go to the store and ask for it, then you can pay for it there, and they will ship it to you for free. it has XP support, and feedback. And windows reads it just as another gamepad. same as having any other.
phantomAI
Do you have the link for the converter on radio shack's website? I can't seem to find it. Otherwise I can find one on ebay, but I just wanted to know what was a good brand. Thanks for the quick replies.

divinatum
most of them come from asia, i recomend getting the PS Joy Converter (USB) at liksang (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=10&products_id=255&) it has the highest compatablity.. and its pretty cheap for 14 bucks.. the paralell one is pretty compatable too. stepmania has a pretty good list of the adapters, http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/adapter.php

I mamaged to find it in the store, they had a few at one time but now they don't. It still wouldent hurt to check out Raidio Shack before ordering it online. The new one is the same exept it is bigger and adds vibration support. Here's a pic of the old style psx to usb adapter:
DigitalN.
wouldnt it be possible to just cut off the end of the PS2 controller and cutting off the end of a USB cable, hooking them up and using it like that

Voltage changes and what not. It probaly has an IC in it to detect the type of controler too.
