Nokia, I'd like to report a bug?

Recommended Posts

Today I had a 4 hour bus trip in front of me. Unfortunately I forgot to charge my Lumia 800 in the previous night and when I got to the bus I had NO BARS left what so ever and only the "heart" mark was still on the display.

So anyway. I thought what the heck, I'll connect my earphones and listen to some music until the phone gives up. It took the phone 5 minutes to shut down on "critical battery level" but I didn't give up that easy. I switched it back on and hoped for the best (to listen some 10-15minutes more) but on full volume it lasted me the whole 4 hours + 4 more at home (left the phone like that because I was already amazed and wanted to see how long it would go on). If it would have been just music sure I'd maybe understand but I also checked my emails and facebook messages once in a while (I'm guessing 1-2 times per a hour) with data connection.

What I'm trying to say is that 8 hours on "critical battery"..well damn Nokia... :/

I'm not complaining at all, the title was supposed to be "funny" but I'm no joke master to start with anyway lol. :p

ive seen this happen on so many different phones. from time to time, battery controllers will glitch up until charged again. the first time, the battery reported a battery level to the OS below a certain threshold,so the OS shut down the phone. Upon rebooting, it reported a value above this threshold and froze there, so the OS kept itself running.

I'm not sure about how the hardware in that phone or the OS works, but that's why you should run your batteries down completely every now and then. Most modern phones have a specific battery controller that can always provide accurate readings on the battery level, but lacking that the OS can provide a meter that can become skewed over time if not fully discharged.

Still, 8 hours is a lot after it says it's dead for a phone, I'd just consider it your lucky day.
