Halo 2: Out Nov. 28

>> From Ve3d.com:

But it's a 2004 title you say! Well it was, but reports from the net suggest otherwise, as does a P.Diddy Xbox advert seen on NBC yesterday where the great big fool says, "The world will know XBox" and then, "on November 15th" appears.

The internet reports? Well the best one I've seen so far is from DGN:

"The representative placed the disc into the store's Xbox console and demonstrated some of the game's single-player components. He then told the store employees in the room that Halo 2 would be made available in stores on November 28, 2003, which is referred to in the retail industry as "Black Friday" because the day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year. He stated that the assumed date when the game would privately "go gold" (completed) was November 7."

The article later states that the November 15th date is when a demo of the game will be released via Xbox Live, and, although the article doesn't state this, presumably through retailers too.

So, a load of rubbish, or the biggest shock of 2003? And, if it is true, how has the game been finished 3-4 months ahead of schedule. Time will tell...

A game months ahead of schedule? *lol*

I guess we'll all know on the 15th. Hard to believe it but it could mean big dollars for MS if they do this. Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a demo for some stupid game. Guess its a good time to use that 2 free months of Live I have sitting around :)

This is so much bullsh*t  There is no way it is out this month, they havent even finnished making it yet for a start. I would sooner have it in 2004 than now because then I will know it is at pure perfection rather than rushed to finnish

M$ shipping ahead of schedule. Hmmmm lets repeat that. M$ shipping shipping ahead of schedule. OK lets think, when was the last time M$ has EVER shipped anything before its projected release? Nothing comes to my mind..... Do you really think a game such as Halo will break the trend? I think not.

Bungie's SketchFactor just posted the following message at a Halo forum:

"Despite all the juicy rumors floating around the net lately, I can confirm with absolute certainty that Halo 2 is NOT coming out in 2003. As we have said for quite some time now, the game will be released when it is done and that will be in 2004. It is not coming out next week. It will not be on store shelves this holiday. Why would anyone want to do a "secret release" with a property as big as Halo 2 anyways? What possible benefit is there in sneaking it onto shelves without making the consumer aware?

Please remember that unless you hear it direct from Bungie, you shouldn't pay attention to any release dates or speculation you see or hear. I'm sorry to crush hopes of playing the game early but it's better than getting your hopes up prematurely. I'm as eager as you are to get my hands on the finished game but we're not there yet.

When the time is right, I imagine we will have more to say about a firm release date. For now, we stand by what we've always said - Halo 2 will be released when it's finished."

So, there you go. We always said it was a rumour, and just as the commerical screens that everyone got so excited about proved to be fake, it turns out the whole thing was a hoax.

Then again, did anyone honestly believe Halo 2 would be released in a week?

You can discuss the whole thing in our forums.
