man4theladys
Ok Im going to ask the same question again since no one here out of the 3000 members did anything to help me. My problem is this.. at times my computer is fine, but lately it has become very slow. Loading quake and connecting to a server takes 10 minutes, and you can year the hardrive trying to load everything. 10 Minutes to load a game is too much, as is the 10 minutes to load up my computer. My system specs are as follows: 450mhz P lll, 128MB of RAM, 12.7 Generic Harddrive, and 64 MB GF2 MX. Dont say I need a new computer because this one is only 3 years old, and works fine. And I dont have any money so it wouldnt matter. Thanks.
Roger H. Veteran Posted January 20, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2002 i don't know what it could be but i suggest you get some more memory. Memory ain't that expensive. And i think it's about time you format!

cyoung1616
Check to see how much space is left in hard drive , and also check to see if hard drive is dying. Cody
nekrosoft13
in windows xp check if your page file is running (virtual memory) once my comp slowed down allot, and it fund that page file wasn't set, after that it started going back at full speed :) also 1.defrag your drive 2.scan your registry for error (use the windoctor in norton utilities) 3.get the bootvis 4.find out how many and what programs are set to start with your computer, less is better 5.go to here to see if your comp needs some updates good luck
man4theladys
What parts do you all upgrading? And Mxxcon I asked it in a demanding way because usually when I need help people just go "Wow that sucks" or "Get a new computer". I dont have much money (150 bux thats it) so my options are very limited.

Gooey
dude, your pc doesn't need upgrading, so, you can't run the latest stuff but there is no reason why your pc should be so slow unless you are tryign to run loads of big programs at the same time
Chris123NT
Can u tell us what OS ur running on ur computer? And i would reccomend formatting your computer and reloading windows from scratch (if u know how) :D

boonedog
You might consider getting a new harddrive and maybe some memory. It sounds like your hd is starting to fail. I had the same prob right before my hd crashed.
Chris123NT
I agree the HDD is definately a possibility (most likely the prob). I just did a job for someone with that prob and as i was copying the data from old drive t new the old HDD crapped out. So i would say get a new HDD and load up windows XP. (and don't buy XP...find a place to d/l it) :D:D:D
