~clean
Install drivers that came with the pad and it will then work with the OS, meaning that you can now config it with all games. If you havent got the drivers goto the M$ website and do a serch for them.

devilotX
Unfotunatly the Gameport (thats the port on the soundcard) Version of the MS Sidewinder is not supported in Windows XP, there are no drivers on MS's Site, and I've never found any other site with drivers nor a work around, if you do get it to work (and you will) it will only work for a few minutes before it stops, then when you look under game controllers, it will read "Sidewinder Pro" which is not correct. Go out and see if you can find a USB Sidewinder, otherwise your out of luck.

~clean
I didnt say XP's website i said microsoft. took me 20 secs to find the download pageHere. IF that doesnt detect it then you need to re-install the drivers for your sound card as they've not being installed properly.

Zombie9920
Try this. Start---->Control Panel---->Game Controllers---->Add---->Microsoft Sidewinder(Autodetect). I have an old gameport Sidewinder that I still use for console emulation(except for N64) and it works perfectly. I actually prefer the old Sidewinder over my Logitech Wingman Rumblepad for everything but Flight Sims, Racing games and N64 games. The Joysticks on the rumblepad are a must for those kind of games. The reason why I prefer the Sidewinder for games that don't need a joystick for good precision is because I think it is more comfortable and it definatley has a more sturdy D-Pad than the Wingman rumblepad has. hardy
Try this. Start---->Control Panel---->Game Controllers---->Add---->Microsoft Sidewinder(Autodetect). This worked for my MS Sidewinder Wheel on the sound card game port. I definatly recommend to try this
uniacidz
I have the USB Sidewinder Pro and works fine for me. You only need the drivers for the 95 and 98 OS's. XP auto detects and installs drivers.

Icarus ^i^
Sounds like my problem when I upgraded to XP... couldn't use my 5 months old Sidewinder FF gameport wheel... microsoft told me to get a USB version instead. Screw them... how hard can it be to make a set of XP drivers that support the gameport devices? Sure, I can use the sidewinder autodetect, but all axis get messed up with that so the wheel is useless on XP.

Listen to all the dudes who said "download the drivers" ...: A) There are no downloadable drivers for Microsoft 15-pin based game devices for Windows XP. B) Since you all didn't know the correct answer, why did you post? Jeez.
