Add another Chuck Lorre comedy to the CBS lineup.

The Eye network is expected to announce that it is picking up Mom, a multi-camera sitcom about a newly sober single mother trying to pull her life back together. Lorre, who wrote the script on spec with his associates Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker, has reportedly been very hands-on with the project despite obligations to his three other CBS series, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and Mike & Molly.

Anna Faris (Scary Movie) stars as the titular mother, toplining an impressive cast that also includes Allison Janney, Nate Corddry, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Matt Jones, Spencer Daniels, Sadie Calvano, and French Stewart. Mom has been on the fast track throughout the development process, with a hot script leading to an inspired table read and a top-notch pilot. Pleased with the result, CBS is eyeing the 8:30 PM timeslot on Mondays in order to use the final season of How I Met Your Mother as a lead-in for the new series.

This pilot season, CBS has a crowded comedy field with four very strong contenders remaining, as well as a slew of dark-horse candidates. Two of the top four are multi-camera pilots, including the untitled Greg Garcia project starring Will Arnett and Friends With Better Lives starring Brooklyn Decker and James Van Der Beek. Single-camera entries include the untitled Rob Greenberg project (formerly called Ex-Men) featuring Tony Shalhoub, Kal Penn, and Jerry O'Connell and Crazy Ones, starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
