leqin
Out of interest - anybody noted the file Microsoft have up on their site for download called 'inuse.exe' - forgot the address but apparantly it can replace system files while they are in use without a reboot - anyone tried it with a hacked uxtheme.dll yet? leqin
Okay what I am thinking is suppose we could get rid of all the having to reboot into the console, then type stuff to get uxtheme.dll replaced, instead we use a simple batch file that you run and set the swap over to be done, making a backup copy of the unhacked dll at the same time, the reboot and when the desktops back up job is done. Likewise you could go back the opposite way, using another batch to replace the hacked file with the unhacked - well that my thought even though I use wb and not msstyles - point is we see so many people asking how do I do it, when really we could point them at a zip file that could do it all for them without any hassle. Guest Dclanz
The 1st method is quite simple really. I'll break it down step by step for the newbies. (Note for this walkthrough just copy the hacked uxtheme.dll that you downloaded into C:WindowsTemp, that's how I did mine.) 1. If you have Style XP, uninstall it. Then restart in SafeMode with Command Prompt. 2. Once in the CommandPrompt Module type the following: cd C:WindowsSystem32 ren C:WindowsSystem32uxtheme.dll uxtheme.bak copy C:WindowsTempuxtheme.dll C:WindowsSystem32 You should then be given a verification in the CPM that 1 file has been copied successfully and all you have to do after that is restart. ;)
