3Dmark 03 3.4.0 out!

Recommended Posts

this patch's main purpose is to finalize it as a valid benchmark by removing the ability for drivers to use application specific cheats. I'm hearing on a variety of other forums that 3dmark scores are dropping quite a bit on FX cards and none at all on Radeons. quite interesting. I wonder if nvidia is going to introduce a lawsuit about this.

Just checked Rage3d and 9800pros are as fast or faster than the FX5950 in 3dmark03 with the patch installed, and the 5900 isn't really close.

I hope nvidia comes out with a card with at least 16pipelines instead of four so ATi can have some decent directx9 competition. Ati is getting comfortable and I want to see some more duking it out.

this wont stop video card companies for "cheating" just like punk buster etc doesnt stop all cheats and hacks

yeah...nvidia's driver engineers can get really elaborate with it all. Just imagine how awesome their drivers would be if they had a card to work with where they did not need to cheat. All those resources used for inflated benchmark scores could be channelled into a legitimate and truly powerful driver set, instead of all this willy nillying.

Until then I'm stuck as a catalyst user.
