Fair Value for used MBP

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a surface to replace my MBP and I am hoping some can chime in, with regards to what a fair price would be to ask for on my Mackbook Pro.

Here are the specs

Late 2011 13" Mackbook Pro

MD314LL

Ram upgraded to 8GB

Primary HDD upgraded to Intel SSD 180GB 520 (SSDSC2CW180A3)

ODD replaced with Optibay and has an Intel SSD 160GB 320 (SSDSA2CW160G3)

I have all factory discs, including the old ODD and the original 750GB HDD. No dents, no dings, and no scuffs.

What do you guys think would be a fair price? I know i could probably part it out and get more money but too much of a hassle, if anything ill put back the ODD and sell the other SSD+Optibay or something but id like to get it all sold together.

I think i could get anywhere from 1300-1500 but i really havent sold a used laptop before

The best estimate is what they sell for on Ebay, so you should take a look there. There's a little bit of added value since you added SSD's; perhaps an extra $200.

I'm in a very similar situation. I have an early 2011 MBP and am looking to sell it. Let me know how it works out for you. I don't really want to go through the hassle of ebay though. A lot of people there try to rip you off (paying from unverified addresses, etc.) and ebay doesn't do a thing to help the seller.

If people are prepared to pay that much, they'd be more likely to get a brand new one.

A second hand laptop is still a second hand laptop, lightly used or not.

I think you'd be lucky to get $1000. Looking at recent completed auctions on eBay (where items usually go for more than if you were to sell privately) there are several Late 2011 13" MBPs in good condition with 128-256GB SSD, 8-16GB RAM and remaining AppleCare (18+ months) which have gone for $950-975.
