+Tyranade Subscriber² Posted May 29, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted May 29, 2013 So I lost my job due to cut backs a while ago and have just been moved on to Income based Jobsekers Allowance. But I have to get a prescription every few weeks and I just had a look on the NHS website and apparently I can get free perscriptions but I was wondering If I have to apply for it, the site said I don't need to apply but then what do I show the Pharmacist so I can get my perscriptions free? Thanks.
richardsim7
I think when you go to pick them up you just mention you're on JSA and sign something
insomniac9
Yep you just tick the back stating which qualifying benefit you are on and sign.
cooky560 Veteran Posted May 29, 2013 Veteran Share Posted May 29, 2013 Your entitlement to free medication depends on the type of JSA you are claiming. Income based yes, Contribution based no if I remember correctly. The payment form for your prescriptions includes a series of reasons why you don't have to pay, tick the box that's relevant to your position, then sign at the bottom as normal. If you are in doubt, you can always pay now, then fill out a refund claim form later.
+John Teacake MVC Posted May 29, 2013 MVC Share Posted May 29, 2013 Yeah just tick the box on the back of the form when you go to pick it up that says you are claiming JSA. Easy Peasy. Dont forget all the other stuff you can claim for too, Free Dental Checkups etc.
