Will Smith On 'Men in Black 4': "I Think Three Is Enough For Me

Earlier this month, Sony confirmed plans to develop a fourth Men In Black movie when the studio hired Oren Uziel to write the script. With the conclusion of the third film last summer, it would make sense to leave it at that. But with the right story, Men In Black 4 could be very good. Plus, with MIB3 becoming the highest grossing installment in the franchise, it would be ideal for Sony to move forward with the series. It was previously expected that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will return as Agents J and K, respectively, yet again. But in an interview with Collider at the After Earth press junket, Smith doesn't sound entirely certain if he will put on the black suit for a fourth go-around. "Uh, y'know... I think three is enough for me. Three of anything is enough for me. We'll look at it and we'll consider it, but it feels like that it might be time to let someone else do that." Collider then brought up the possibility of Smith's son Jaden (who co-stars with his father in After Earth) taking over for the fourth film, and Will sounds very open to the idea.

Lets get it on record. It was a decent action film but it certainly wasn't worthy of a 4th film in the series. I like Will Smith and I do feel he has made sensible comments. I don't think MIB:4 will come out anytime soon.

lol strange how this comment comes around the time his movie with his son is failing miserably. perhaps he needs to stay on MIB?

Not sure what it means to say it isn't worth a fourth film. After all, I enjoyed the cartoon series on the WB and that had more than three episodes. Movies are much more big budget, so I'm not comparing them, but I wouldn't find reason to complain if there was a fourth movie, or maybe if it were a live action series on TV... since that would be better than buying $10 tickets for each sequel.

It's up to Will Smith though, and if he thinks he has better stuff to with his career :) I don't know why Hancock 2, I, Robot 2, and Bad Boys 3 are better choices for his time and effort. Men in Black is smarter writing than most of the other things on his plate right now. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000226/)

Don't need him see my comment...

I think a new character might be a good direction for the series to follow. Maybe two new characters.

Nope, just keep Josh Brolin and continue from when "J" left, you've got an established lead and many many ways to continue to explain - "man, what happened to you" - "I don't know it hasn't happened yet." line from the third.

I thought the 3rd was the best of the three, the story (if you don't dig too deep) wrapped up nicely.

The third film was easily better than the second, which was dire. That said, I really don't think the franchise is strong enough for a fourth film and certainly not one without Will Smith.

First one for me was the only good one out of the 3. Number 2 ok was meh... number 3 took me 2 days to watch.. i really didn't like it that much.

I wasn't expecting much out of the 3rd but was surprised. It was pretty decent. I expected it to just be a cash cow, which it was. But it was entertaining too. This really seems to be pushing it. I don't think anyone expected it to do so well. Now the execs are like 'wait a minute, look how much it made! let's do another.'

Yeah no Will Smith = No watch (especially if Jaden takes over!)
