Got an itch for classic television that needs scratched?

Help might be on the way. At least it will be if Garth Ancier has anything to say about it.

Ancier was the founding programmer at Fox and The WB and now he is working on a new TV gig. He hopes to convince pay-TV operators to carry four new channels. Each one would have a different theme, with the themes being decades of television.

He wants to create a unique channel for the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Each would air reruns from that decade. Think of it like a specialized Nick at Nite or TV Land to your specific viewing interest.

Zeus Media Partners is the name of Ancier's new company that is working on these projects. They want to launch the channels in 2014's second quarter. Ancier says the idea came to him from listening to Sirius XM, which offers stations geared towards different decades. Could be a cross-branding opportunity.

Zeus Media is talking to several studios about the project and licensing their old programs, such as Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox and Carsey Werner. The plan is to air these programs in high definition.

We had this once when TV Land was introduced, then they screwed it up with reality shows and other modern crap. This would be no different, all channels eventually sink to the lowest common denominator and start showing the cheapest to produce and dumbest shows they can find.
