Why are GameCube's so bad?

Recommended Posts

Im playing Metroid Prime and Viewtiful Joe, great games. The gamecubes not bad, its just about everyone has a playstation so they get a playstation 2 which can play there old games and DVD's. Gamecube, xbox, ps2 are all good consoles in there own way. :)

Gamecube isn't losing nintendo money as far as I have heard, they are one of the most profitable companies out there, I mean they turned a profit on the 64, what can't they do. And the biggest mis-conceptions are that it has more Everyone games than no, and I can't proove it but I saw on ign that it had more rated Teen games than Everyone,

And the issue that it has no games? While true it doesnt have as many as the other two syestems, it has truckloads more than the 64 did. In a four month period not sure when, again its on ign, there was like 2 games released ( it was Q1 of 98 i think).

why do you need a gamecube to play a cd or dvd? Next you will want your cat to have a bottle opener in its ass. Do you not have a cd player or dvd player? And also, if you think about it, the gamecube is much cheaper than the xbox or ps2.. with the 50 or 60 bucks you save go out and buy yourself a dvd player!

Well... you guys have definitly convinced me... im going to get myself a gamecube... ok which games should i get? i know metriod prime... cause u guys talk about it all the time... what is viewtiful joe about?

I own a pc/console games shop.

this is how i see it.

First off it had a horrible small amount of "very good" launch titles. compare this to what sony had to offer with the ps2 at the time. customers in my shop were not interested in the cube at all. mario kart / mario sunshine / metroid prime / zelda windwaker all should have been launch titles. it still has a lack in the games department, not a massive selection of games.

I had the gamecube demo-ing in store for people to try, hell i wanted to sell these things, make money and stock more. 99% of the adults were like "controllers small and crap" (i had the offical controller out with it). the kids liked it fit their hands snugly. plus the launch games were nasty anyway in my opinion. i loved monkey ball though. several people got addicted to it, including myself.

it doesnt play dvd's. to me this shouldn't even be an issue, its a console ffs. but when people are comparing the gcn to either xbox/ps2 the gcn loses cuz it doesnt have dvd playback. even though people wont use the ps2/xbox for dvd's, its the fact that "because it does" is a selling point.

range of games: much less compared to ps2, and not far off the xbox.

kiddy image: yes again shouldnt be an issue. but i dont get 5-13 year olds with hard cash wanting to buy one. most sales are adults, and if the console is for themselves i usually get "any good bloody shoot em ups, something like gta?" :/ shame

other dvd/games stores in my area have stopped dealing with gcn completely and i am the only one left nearby with them.

i dont hate the cube nor nintendo. this "observation" is from my store where i do sell a lot of games, to all age ranges and formats (barring cube, it just DOESN'T sell). this isn't biased in anyway, hell i'm a pc gamer, dont own any consoles.

The games I would buy right away if I bought a gamecube today are Metroid Prime and Zelda. I guess I can recommend Splinter Cell and True Crime Streets of LA as well... I have those for xbox, but the GC versions should be pretty similar.

well, you say that it loses compared to the xbox and ps2 because of the dvd playback... wel think about the fact that the gamecube costs less. Maybe the fact that it doesnt play dvd helps it to have a lower price? Thanks Yazor for what you have seen. So besides zelda, metriod, and viewtiful joe, what games should i get? what are the best games?

I have no idea how anyone in their right minds can slag off the cube's pad, its the most comfortable pad I've ever used, and I'm no kid.

Especially after the pile of ###### that is the xboxs controller..!

I used to bash on the GC. Just ask Spyder :p until he and the first party games forced me to buy it. Let me tell you there isnt a console out that maintains the old school feel like my GC does. Kind of hard to explain, but when you play a GC first party game you know your playing a quality game that was published not just for the revenue it would bring, but because the developer really loved the game and wanted to make it great. By all means dont let the naysayers sway you, although i really hate cellshading i still think the new zelda kicked arse. This console is worth every penny, and I highly recommend it. Guys who judge their penis size by the consoles they own are rediculous, GC puts out high quality first party games PERIOD

I think a lot of people liked the PS 2 coming with a DVD player because at the time it was their first DVD player or gave them another one for like, a kids bedroom. It was (when the PS 2 released), cheaper than buying a console and a DVD player.

F-Zero GX

Soul Calibur II

Resident Evil

SSX 3

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

TimeSplitters 2

Burnout 2: Point of Impact

one of the factors is that when we think of nintendo we think of kiddy games. nowadays we want racing games like gran turismo, and fighting games like tekken, and shooting games like halo or unreal tournament or counter strike, and the like.

the n64 hurt nintendo's image, and its carrying over to the gamecube. the n64 was limited graphics wise and most of the games looked really polygonal, with bright colours..i think that started the whole kiddy thing. i know it had a few hits but the n64 was nintendo's darkest era and they have to shake it.

all those types of games you just mentioned phil, the gamecube has.

Im not basing rogue 2, but if you have friends who play games get rogue 3, that way you get rogue 2 in it for 2 player, and it is awesome, me and my friend are at the last level. Plus Rogue 3 is amazing, mindus the POS on foot levels.

Jeez I really don't know why people bash GC that much.

Zelda: WM

Eternal Darkness

RE: Zero

Mario Kart: Double Dash

Super Smash Brothers

Kingdom Hearts

Soul Calibur 2

Metroid Prime

Mario Party 4

Final Fantasy Chronicles

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 1 & 2

...

and so much more...

I know that some of them aer rated E, but there is nothnig bad about that. I love to play Eternal Darkness, then when my little daughter wants to play with me I can save and swtich to Mario Party!

There a lot of good game for it...

Also think about compatibility of the GBA to unluck stuff and play GBA games on your TV...

139$ cnd is also to take in consideration!
