Why are GameCube's so bad?

Recommended Posts

in my previous post, i didn't mean to sound as if i hate the cube. i have nothing against it. just portraying how i see it as a games shop owner. i cant see it picking up and getting a better hold of the market. even the ?100 deal with mariokart/zelda deal. i tell customers about it coming up, and they are like "so what?" i try and sell cubes and its games to people but there aint that many selling points apart from its cheaper. and when people see the larger range of games for ps2/xbox, they immediatly lose interest in buying a cube.

heres some gamecube only titles ive played/enjoyed:

Monkey Balll <-- awesome, i just loved it dispite its kiddy look, its rock hard at times.

monkey ball 2 <-- better, yet i found it easier. maybe because i gained skill during the first one.

metroid prime <--: fps with a pad, fails in my eyes, cannot stand it. yes halo sucks

bomberman generations <-- well im a fan of the original snes ones, great multiplayer fun

mario sunshine <--:// didnt feel right to me. i didnt like mario64 either. old skooler, i prefer marioworld.

sonic mega collection <-- heh classic

bloody roar <-- not bad beat em up. started easy, then got difficult quickly. or im just crap-o-la at them games

eternal darkness <-- i found this to be a horrid poor game. just seemed to be nothing special at all.

godzilla <-- absolute toss

luigi's mansion <--:// not bad, not good either

megaman <-- never played, aparantly very good i heard

pikmin <-- pretty good once you understand it and give it time. gfx textures are bad though i thought

resident evil <- completed. very good, just an enhanced port of psx version with xtras. (never played psx version)

rogue leader <-- pretty good game, though would prefer it on pc with a joystick, i found the controls easily usable.

starfox adventures <-- seemed to be a rushed game by rare, and i thought was pretty parp

smash bros melee <-- i never could understand why anyone likes this game. its utter crap

zelda <-- never played, not a fan of zelda. although if i had the time, i could see myself enjoying this. looks very good graphically

universal studios <-- LMAO!!!!!!!!! please do not even bother to give this game a first look never mind second

those are my opinions anyway.

no prob.

those are my opinions. hell, alot of people love metroid prime and it did get 10/10. but as a pc fps gamer, i look down on all console fps games, unless there is keyboard and mouse option. :)

heh just sold a few cube games. sweet.

oh and whoever said games like soul calibur 2 / kingdom hearts, those games are no selling point and do nothing for the cube as they are on other formats. the cube needs its own killer games, and they unfortunatly come mainly just from nintendo.

god damn it! True Crime - Streets of LA isn't released on cube yet! It's out on xbox/ps2, and ive sold out on both, people asking for it on cube, i have to tell them its not out till next week :/ another reason why the cube is losing popularity

this is kinda going against what ive heard... if everyone likes gc so much, why is it that nintendo has lost so much money on them? They have some kickass games from what i can see, and everyone (at least in here lol) seems to like them.... the world may never know.. :D

Nintendo lost money for 2 quarters. And that was due in huge part to a strong Yen and a weak Dollar, not losses on GameCube.

BTW, Metroid is an adventure game. Not a shooter.

the n64 hurt nintendo's image, and its carrying over to the gamecube. the n64 was limited graphics wise and most of the games looked really polygonal, with bright colours..i think that started the whole kiddy thing. i know it had a few hits but the n64 was nintendo's darkest era and they have to shake it.

all those types of games you just mentioned phil, the gamecube has.

But the graphics for the N64 kicked the snot out of anything that was on the PS1 at the time.

Wow I pity you...

Were you born with a mouse and keyboard at your fingertips or something. You're ****ting on some of the best titles in gaming existence there.:

A lot of people get the notion that it's full of kiddie games; well it's not. Just because 9/10 titles aren't gory, bloody, or "hardcore", they throw it into the "kiddie" category.

Come Wednesday; I'm buying a GameCube + Mario Kart. Even though it got a lower than expected rating; it's a reason for me to buy a GameCube now.

I don't have a gamecube or any console. I sold all of them (have no interest). Anyway I said I liked the pikmin because my little brothers were playing it and I tried it out.

No need to cause a fuss. Grown people like these "kiddy games" also.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm 23 and have more fun playing games like Mario Party 5, Super Monkey Ball 2, Pikmin, Zelda, Metroid, etc. than games like GTA III or Halo. And once Mario Kart:DD and 1080 Avalanche comes out (and I get up to speed on purchases like Viewtiful Joe, Super Smash Bros.:Melee, and Eternal Darkness) I am going to sell my PS2.

Besides, the whole reason this topic is taking place is because people won't take time tofind what is their liking. People read that the system is somehow "kiddie" and just blatantly stay away from it. When in fact these are the same people who played the hell out of their NES, SNES, GameBoy, etc.

It's all about image nowdays and I guess alot of folks just aren't secure with who they are....

Nintendo is good. People talk about how the N64 had crappy graphics. Yes, this is true for the games, but not nesessarily for the console. From what I hear, the N64 was a pain to program for and so developers couldn't make the graphics good. If you look at, say mario part 3, the graphics are pretty good. People also say the gamcube is a weak system, it isn't. It packs a nice punch in a relatively small space. One last thing, some people have something against kiddy games. I don't know about you guys, but in kiddy games, there's an elements of... well, fun thats lacking in modern games. I prefer a good game with NES graphics rather than a terrible game with Final Fantasy graphics, although I'd like the good gfx. I think I'll stick with my NES for now (yay super mario 1 & 3).

I was thinking, why people call it kiddy. Apearantly, they say this because everyone else does. They know it is better, but they just don't want to fall for it. Playstations are like the Microsoft world, while GameCube is like the Mac. Less people use it, but thjey enjoy people. People only buy a PlayStation 2 because everyone else has it. If I get 100,000 people to say X-Box/PlayStation 2 is kiddy then other people will start to feed off of this like maggots. A lot of people can't think for themselves, so they just follow the 'crowd'. I think it's pretty pathetic and I enjoy Gamecube 100x more than my PlayStation 2. It has more games, and better replay value. I played Vice City on my computer for about 2 hours, and got tired of doing the same thing. Missions are all basically the same, just go around kill this person or steal his car and bring it back.

When will people realise that GameCube is just better? Metroid Prime is 20x better than Halo. A Lot of people say that these games are kiddy, but I bet only about 3/12ths of the people that say that can actually beat Mario Sunshine. ;)

Grow the **** up and start thinking for yourself.
