Recommended Posts

didnt know where to post this so i slapped it here...

I need new anime to watch (stuff thats been dubbed I am lazy and dont wana read subs, and unless they are ordering food I wont know what they are saying)

I know there are lots of anime out there but I obviously dont have time to sample them all...

I like Naruto, fairy tail, death note and one piece... so anything like this... action packed fantasy anime would be great :)

I am willing to try most anime but not really into life situations .... I watch anime to escape life not watch it in cartoon form xD

I like the movies: howls moving castle, the girl who lept through time, prince mononoke

obviously up for film suggestions to :) please give me a short description on them if you suggest :)

I know you don't want to watch subs but i can't recommend Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan) enough.

I'll give you wiki links instead of a short description

Shingeki No Kyojin - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Titan

FullMetal Alchemist - http://en.wikipedia....metal_alchemist - I'd go with FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood first as that follows the anime. The original was a different story after the first few chapters. Still brilliant though

Full Metal Panic - http://en.wikipedia....ull_Metal_Panic!

Evangelion - This is dubbed. If you want action packed then maybe watch the first two movies as they're dubbed and have a bit more action in it. The series is a little more slower paced. - http://en.wikipedia....ion_%28anime%29

I always recommend this one.

Saikano - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saikano

Shingeki no Kyojin ("Attack on Titan") - Really great show so far, only 9 episodes in to the series so it's not hard to get into.

As for movies, it sounds like you're a big Hayao Miyazaki fan.. I could recommend a few of his movies lol

http://www.imdb.com/.../?ref_=tt_ov_dr

Anything in that link really.

I will look into these :)

think I will start first with full metal alchemists, and a few of hayao's movies...I like the sound of the titan one ...but subs ;( *cries*

I just wanted to thank you for those suggestions despite this not being my thread. :p Shingeki No Kyojin looks amazing. I watched a small sample on YouTube and I am already impressed. Time to order!

I'm more into older anime, but some of what I like might be new to you.

I'd recommend Fushigi Yuugi.

Ranma 1/2 is a martial arts slapstick romantic comedy with some action fantasy elements in some episodes.

Mazinkaizer is good, as is the original Mazinger Z, if you like giant mecha.

I love Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato - classic sci-fi - a voyage to a distant world and back, through a war, with the fate of life on Earth in the balance.

You can't go wrong with Macross, another classic space war, with giant mecha.

If you like Miyazaki, I'd try The Cat Returns, with Cary Elwes as the Baron, a heroic talking cat with fantasic style.

I like the sound of the martial arts one (training in martial arts kind of makes me love anything about them).. so i will have to give it alook ... I am going to have such a closed off summer holiday lol

I'll just list some which I really enjoyed and give VERY basic descriptions :p

Chrome Shelled Regios - Futuristic setting, pollution has caused things to mutate into monsters so humanity now lives in mobile cities where citizens join academies and learn how to fight the monsters.

Soul Eater - Demons eat human souls, people use humans that can transform into weapons to fight the demons. These people also go to an academy to learn how to fight with their partners (academies seem to be quite the recurring theme :p)

Code Geass - British Empire invades Japan using mechs, takes over. British guy living their tells his Japanese friend he will free the country so starts a rebellion.

Outlaw Star - 2 guys own a courier business on a planet, find a mysterious girl who is being hunted by basically everyone become her bodyguard and flee across the galaxy in a super advanced ship.

Honestly don't let my crappy descriptions put you off, I'm really picky with anime but I loved all of these and it's the kind of series which I think any anime lover with enjoy. You can find Chrome Shelled Regios and Soul Eater on Netflix if you have it and have the know how to access US content :)

EDIT: Ohh also as Lingwo said Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Panic! are amazing, meant to mention that in my original post. With FMA there is a series titled Full Metal Alchemist which, if I remember, strayed from the manga a lot and was then remade as Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood which more closely follows the manga, I might be talking ass backwards here but FMA:B was a lot better IMO so I'd recommend it more :)

Yes the original FullMetal Alchemist anime moved away from the manga pretty much after the first few volumes and was actually quite different from the manga. I agree Brotherhood was better. It followed the manga and had a proper definitive ending. The original anime, kind of ended and setup the first movie i believe.
