The on-again/off-again relationship between Fiona and Jimmy on "Shameless" will apparently be off-again in the coming season, this time permanently.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor who has played Jimmy 'Steve' Lishman on the Showtime drama for three seasons, Justin Chatwin, has opted not to return. Producer John Wells confirmed the news at an Emmy panel on June 4th.

A representative at Showtime suggests that Chatwin could appear in one or two episodes to wrap up the character's storyline. However, the third season finale provided a pretty suitable exit for the former conman character, as his secret marriage of convenience to a drug kingpin's daughter came to a head. Jimmy had married Estefania as a means of keeping her in the country, but she was deported when she could not reach him to maintain the guise of their green card marriage.

Jimmy was last seen on a boat with one of the kingpin's thugs after his daughter was deported, with Jimmy now missing and presumed dead. While his death occurred off screen, a tweet by TV Guide's Rob Moynihan following the finale left little to the imagination: "[Producer] John Wells confirms Jimmy is dead."
