How's this for a dream job? You're a television writer with successful credentials to your name, but your last show was abruptly cancelled... and you're welcomed aboard the writing staff for the biggest, most successful comedy on television.

Emily Spivey has written for 'Saturday Night Live,' 'MADtv,' and the Christina Appelgate/Will Arnett sitcom 'Up All Night.' A mere two months after departing 'Up All Night,' Spivey has just landed herself a choice gig on the multi-time Emmy Award winning ABC series.

Spivey finds her way on 'Modern Family' as part of a two-year Overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, which produces 'Modern Family.' The nature of an Overall deal means that 20th Century Fox Television has the rights to any of Spivey's television work and that any new series Spivey works on or creates would be the property of 20th Century Television.

'Up All Night' was finally cancelled after a strange attempt to transform the sophomore comedy from a single-camera format to a traditional multi-camera style sitcom.

'Modern Family,' on the other hand, was recently renewed for a fifth season. The ensemble comedy shows no signs of slowing down, collecting awards from various sources--including a Golden Globe.
