'Man of Steel 2' On Fast Track With Snyder And Goyer Returning

Recommended Posts

How high is Warner Bros. on Zack Snyder?s Man of Steel, opening this Friday? They are now officially fast tracking the sequel, Man of Steel 2, bringing back the director as well as the screenwriter, David Goyer. Christopher Nolan will also return as a producer, but in a smaller capacity.

This likely assures a second Superman film will be out before Justice League, though that film is still in the cards, possibly with Goyer writing.

Deadline broke the news of the sequel, which happened just as Snyder?s film unspools at its world premiere in New York and two hours before reviews hit on every website in the world.

Snyder alluded to this decision last week, when he said the following in an interview:

Look ? completely hypothetically, I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road, I think, before you can do a Justice League movie.

?Man Of Steel? Sequel Underway With Zack Snyder And David S. Goyer

EXCLUSIVE: This isn?t exactly a surprise given the hot anticipation and theatrical buzz awaiting Man Of Steel?s limited opening Thursday and wide release Friday in 4,200+ theaters. But I?ve learned it?s official: Warner Bros Pictures is fast-tracking the Superman reboot sequel with its successful twosome already in place: Zack Snyder reprising as director and David S. Goyer repeating as screenwriter. Goyer?s deal is part of a huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for Man Of Steel, the sequel, and Justice League with Superman. What is a question mark next time is the role Christopher Nolan will fill. To reimagine this 3rd Superman franchise, Nolan stepped in as producer and mentor and story co-writer. I?m told that next time Nolan?s producer role won?t be as ?full blown?. Hey, he?s busy working on other projects, and now the sequel is on firm footing just as the first?s 3D and 2D grosses start rolling in. (This isn?t a Green Lantern situation all over again: That pic badly underperformed. No way this one will.) Meanwhile, fanboys are speculating who?ll be the villain/s in the Man Of Steel sequel: Brainiac, Bizarro, Metallo, Doomsday, Darkseid, other?

Aren't they jumping the gun just a wee bit? Shouldn't they wait until after opening weekend to make that sort of decision?

Awesome news. I'd prefer a more developed Superman to be in the Justice League movies. I thought it was odd for him to jump into the Justice League after going up against General Zod.

The old Superman just wouldn't cut it today. Kind of like the old A-Team

tv show where everyone had automatic weapons, and **** blew up, but noone died.

This take on Superman is supposed to be a lot more violent and "realistic"... which is

exactly the Age we're living in as far as what people want to watch.

I haven't thought of it that way. Since Superman is really the leader of JL he needs to be well developed.

I read somewhere that this film, even before opening, had recouped and was already making money! Hardly surprising they want to repeat this.

Like I have said from day 1: You do Superman right, and you write your own cheque!
