'... blow up the planet from Mars.'

The way in which a Dunkin' Donuts employee endured a customer's racist tirade has led the company to reward him and another employee involved for handling the situation with patience and politeness.

The woman, identified as Taylor Chapman, begins to record her complaint as a belligerent customer citing a store policy that she says promises her a free meal since she didn't get her receipt for a previous purchase.

The eight-minute video was meant to expose the employees, but instead it backfired in a big way. The racist tirade, which has been viewed over half a million times on the Web, caused an outpouring of outrage ? directed at Chapman.

The employees, shown in the video, manage to remain calm as Chapman launches a string of obscenity-laced insults, including a bizarre threat to blow up the planet from Mars, and racist barbs.

Dunkin' Donuts praised the employees on Twitter, posting, "We're proud of how r crew member handled this situation. The franchise owner of the restaurant plans 2 recognize the crew member."

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to raise funds for the 18-year-old who bore the brunt of Chapman's verbal abuse. The website says the employee, Abid Adar, who makes about $8 an hour, aspires to be a doctor and will start college in the fall. The funds will be split equally between Adar and Nithi, the other worker verbally accosted in the video.

"Whatever you want, I will get it for you," he says. And he does.

"I can't wait to post this on Facebook as soon as we're done," Chapman says, adding, "Hi, Facebook. This is what you have to do in life."

"We commend the franchisee's crew member for handling this difficult situation with grace and patience," said Michelle King, director, Global Public Relations, Dunkin' Brands, in a statement provided to Yahoo!.

"We believe this is a powerful example of great customer service and the respect our crew members have for our guests. The franchise owner of the restaurant has reached out to the crew member privately to express and demonstrate his personal appreciation. Additionally, Dunkin' Brands' leadership has reached out to the two crew members featured in the video. Both have been invited to an internal company event in Boca Raton later this month for further recognition."

It's better to let people just think you're a fool than to open your mouth and prove it.

Hats off to the stoic employees - they just earned commendations and raises.
