According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Crowe, co-writer for the 1992 film of the same name starring Daniel Day-Lewis, will pen the script alongside Kerry McCluggage (?Miami Vice?) and Steve Beck, who also co-developed the project. Crowe and McCluggage will executive produce ?Mohicans,? while Beck will serve as a producer.

For those unfamiliar with the story itself, ?The Last of the Mohicans? tells the story of America?s national beginnings through the eyes of Cooper?s characters. ?Mohicans? ranks as the latest historical adaptation eyed for development at FX, which already has ?Conquistadors,? Paul Giamatti?s ?Mayflower,? Sam Mendes? ?Grand Hotel,? Shawn Ryan?s adaptation of the British ?Mad Dogs,? ?Sutton,? based on J.R. Moehringer?s novel and adapted by Alexander Payne, and the six-part Stephen Gaghan Vietnam War story ?They Marched Into Sunlight.?
