ATI and RTCW problem

Recommended Posts

I just installed the game after changing from an nvidia card to the ATI 9800 pro. I can't get the game to start. It changes to the grey screen and then gives me a windows error. Does anyone know what this could be?l

is there any setting in the graphics properties that might cause a problem. I haven't changed anything. They should be set to the defaults.

Did you uninstall the nVidia drivers before you switched cards?

I would normally reccommend a complete format and re-install of windows when switching one of your main hardware components though.

yeah I did uninstall the detontator drivers and uninstall the card before putting the ATI in. I installed the game after the ati was installed.

I got one for you. I got the Platinum pack, with the original and enemy territory. Installs fine, but the patches say that they can't find the game installed on my computer. Weird. So then I go to play online anyways, and it says I have an invalid cd key. I bought this game. Any ideas?

well I let the game load and then I get one of those windows error messages where it wants to send a report. I never see a splash screen, just the normal grey "pre-splash" screen. I can't read the little status window that runs through the systems checks either. It's gone when the grey screen comes up. As far as I can tell opengl should be there right? I did the default install of the ATI drivers. I see an opengl configuration section on the ATI display properties

quake 3 engines do this sometimes, you have to delete your config for rtcw. i recommend putting it onto your desktop so you can copy the binding etc back tell me if that works for you (Y)

I had opengl problems with my AIW 9700 Pro and Homeworld2 and had to install a hotfix. You may have to do this also.

Here is the download:

Catalyst 3.9 Hotfix

Here is the ati article:
