freak180
Hey guys, I could use your help with this one. My gf's mom accidentally deleted the pictures she took for a wedding on her sd card. I'm about to remote to her computer and see if I can manage to restore them somehow. What is the most reliable software to use.
Cute James
Recuva has always worked well for me. http://www.piriform.com/recuva
astropheed Veteran Posted July 18, 2013 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2013 I've used Active Uneraser with great results also ZeroAssumption Recovery worked well, the former is free and probably better.
Karl L.
PhotoRec, which is a general-purpose file recovery program despite its name, has always work well for me. It is open-source and runs on every major operating system, including some ancient ones like MS-DOS/Windows 9x. Evolution 1 Share
+Xinok Subscriber² Posted July 18, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted July 18, 2013 Recuva has always worked well for me. http://www.piriform.com/recuva I second this recommendation. I'd just like to suggest downloading the portable version. The installer is only going to make more changes, increasing the likelyhood that the pictures will be overwritten by another file. And if at all possible, recover the files to a separate disk or partition. https://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds

Shiranui
There are a number of programs that can do the job, but the most important thing minimizing the amount of writing to disk between now and when you get round to trying to recover anything. you could try undelete360: http://www.undelete360.com/ portable version here:http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Portable-Undelete-360-Download-176614.html Preferably save it on a different drive or partition. Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted August 5, 2013 Veteran Share Posted August 5, 2013 Recuva has always worked well for me. http://www.piriform.com/recuva Recuva has been my go to software for rather some time now. however, it is important to keep in mind how this data is recoverable. When you delete a file it does not remove the data it simply removes the pointer to where the data is stored. Any software such as recuva just looks for files that no longer have a pointer to them and will attempt to recover the pointer for the file. If any data has been written to the drive that the data was stored on you will substantially reduce the ability to recover the data, as it might have been over written already. Evolution
PhotoRec, which is a general-purpose file recovery program despite its name, has always work well for me. techbeck
Getdataback. Used it again the other day since I deleted a bunch of files of my external. Used it before to retrieve 120gb of music. Works great and much much better than Recuva.
