Plex for Google TV refreshed with dynamic layout, more big screen love

After launching a brand new Android app, Plex is now giving its Google TV app more room to roam inside your HDTV. An update allows you to dynamically switch your layout to a "TV style" to better take advantage of your flat panel's extra breadth, even if you're running it from an Android smartphone instead (which you totally can). PlexPass subscribers can sideload the app to Google TV or any other Android device via an APK now, and a new Google TV app will arrive on Play within a week. So, if you've already got the pixels but need more screen acreage, check the source.

I was going to make a smart ass comment about needing a Linux client first... but apparently there is one in development for PlexPass members... Hmm, I may have to double my subscription efforts this morning and grab one there too!

Even though I won't have my current TV for much longer, I wish they'd update the Samsung TV app.

I wish they'd build a Vizio app, then I wouldn't need a Linux version either way, haha.

I was so pleased with Plex streaming to my Nexus 10 from my Windows box that I bought a Asus Cube for Plex to stream to my TV. The Asus Cube was just horrible. Returned the Cube and picked up the Roku 3 at Best Buy and I have to say, I'm about 90% satisfied with it. Works very nice. I was used to streaming video from my video server to my TiVo using PyTivo but I got none of the cool information that Plex gives.

Looking forward to getting Plex on my TiVo, I think that will be the end of my Roku.

I also dropped my cable and not missing it.
