+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 30, 2013 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 30, 2013 Back when gmail was first announced (around 2004ish???) I created two gmail accounts. I set up one account for me (my real name) and one for signing up for forums etc (my username). I forwarded all emails from the username account to my real name account. Now, I basically haven't logged into the username account in about 8 years since everything gets forwarded to my real name account. I tried to login to the username account just to see how full it is and delete some stuff. However surprisingly in the 8 intervening years I've forgotten the password. I have tried using the password recovery but since I technically haven't been using the account I can't answer any of the questions (like when was the last time you logged in, who do you contact the most, name some labels, etc etc) So I seem to be stuck. Can anyone think of a way I'd be able to get into the account? And yes, reading this back it does look like I might be up to no good by trying to get into an account that isn't mine. I'm not sure how I could prove that the account is mine though.

+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 31, 2013 Author Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 31, 2013 Contact Google -- no one else can get you in. https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery?hl=en&ard=AHwGkRntImb6ILxQ0MtI7tLFonTZjZgUsgeNWMUE0NHRZRWYhLy_4tn9aVI094L6BprYN1qrAu3FTYJ-BFKIMa_zvzYp5eZH6MXfKpVHfJUJUmfEVZB-8vwX5ect0CW1NZ4GZC_foqmZEm1AgOWZGCBZ-pydIj8zdQ https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/2943007?hl=en I've been through both those procedures. The password reset option asks me for an email address I've not used since I started using gmail, I don't even use the ISP that it belongs to (in fact I'm not even 100% sure it still exists), it gives you the option to answer questions about your account if you don't have access to the email. This is another problem, ask for the last password I remember, I've absolutely no idea what my last password was. Then it asks last time I was able to sign in and when I created the account. I know it was roughly 2004, but it's wanting to know month and day. I'm just putting dates in there as I've got no idea when it was. Hell, I'm just guessing it was 2004, it could have been 2005. I'm sure I got into the beta program but when that was I don't know. So I stick some dates in that, then it's asking for my first phone number, now I don't know if I would have entered my mobile number or house number for that question (tried my house but it wasn't correct) so I'm assuming it's my mobile. Absolutely no idea what that was in 2004ish so I have to skip that question. Then it asks for email addresses of up to five frequently contacted people, I don't send emails from that account so there are none. Also asks me to name four labels, there are none. I do know the last recovery email though, it's from the dead ISP, fill that in and continue. Now asks for 4 other Google products that I use with this account, again there are none. This email is just used for receiving email, I use my main account for everything else. So I can't fill out this either. Hit submit and it tells me that the information I provided doesn't match whats on the account and to try again. I've been through this procedure about a dozen times, I'm just fumbling around in the dark, I could be here until I die trying to guess information. Guess I'm just screwed, if only there was some way to contact a human at Google.
